Celebrate National Cheese Lover’s Day at Disney World
Put it on top of a pizza pie, spread it on a crispy baguette, sprinkle it over a steaming bowl of pasta, or melt it over your morning egg sandwich. Mild, sharp, pungent; any way you slice it, cheese ups the flavor of any dish you can dream of! If your favorite meal is chicken parm or if you’re looking for a protein-packed snack, January 20th is National Cheese Lover’s Day! We’ve got the scoop on the best and cheesiest meals at Walt Disney World!
Cookes of Dublin
Cookes of Dublin is the Irish quick serve spot that has withstood the massive rebrand and transition from Downtown Disney to Disney Springs. If it stuck around through the countless changes and closures, one thing is for sure: this place serves some good grub!
The Irish cheese and bacon dip is a Disney foodie fan classic, and for good reason! Real, flavorful, pungent, aromatic, and salty Irish cheese is melted down to drippy gooey goodness. The brilliant cooks here chop up some crispy bacon and mix it all up with the melted cheese to give you the cheesiest, bacon-y-est dip you’ll ever taste!
Via Napoli
When the moon hits your eye and you’re craving a big pizza pie, you’ve just got to hit Via Napoli in Epcot! Each and every morning, the cheeses for that days’ pies get delivered directly from Italy. That level of freshness pairs with other high-quality ingredients and a phenomenal recipe. Don’t be surprised when you finish an entire pie on your own!
The salty, aromatic, and pungently flavored cheeses here are what made the pizza so famous, and nothing has changed since opening day! Unfortunately, some restaurants at Walt Disney World have stellar food in the opening months, only to disappoint me on a return visit. Via Napoli hasn’t succumbed to the downgrade of ingredients like other spots have, and it remains my top choice for pizza on Property!
Art Smith’s Homecomin’
It’s not the location or the theme that have folks lining up out the door. It’s the juicy, golden-fried chicken they’ve done a great job of perfecting! Their impressive list of side items have wow-ed newbies and return guests so much that the restaurant now has a cult-level following!
Arguably the best of those amazing sides comes in an unassuming little white ceramic bowl. Like everything at Homecomin’, simple presentations allow the food to speak for itself. You’ll hear angels sing when this little bowl of heaven gets set down in front of you, and once you break that sharp, melty shell on top, the mac and cheese that sits below is truly unlike any you’ve ever had!
Baseline Tap House
If you’re in the market for cheese in its purest form, the charcuterie board from Baseline Tap House is my top pick! It features 3 types of cheeses (one sharp white, one soft blue, and one spreadable), meats, spicy mustard, pickles, grapes, and garlic toasts. This scrumptious appetizer is only half the reason I choose to come here!
Baseline Tap House is located between Star Tours and the Muppets Courtyard. It’s located in the quietest section of Hollywood Studios. That silence between footfalls of a stray passing guest will come to a very loud halt when Galaxy’s Edge opens. I will only be a mere 40 yards from the Tap House. Be sure to get there on National Cheese Lovers’ Day to enjoy your cheese in peace!
