Disney and Panasonic Collaborate to Bring Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway To Life
According to a recent piece on PR Newswire, Panasonic announced that they have been collaborating with Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Projections on new attractions heading to Disney theme parks. One such example is that Panasonic’s projectors and other technological innovations are being helped to transform Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway slated to open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios later this year from a two-dimensional cartoon into an amazing real-world experience guaranteed to dazzle guests.
Tom LaDuke, Principal Show Systems Designer at Walt Disney Imagineering had this to say of the collaboration, “The specific requirements of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction require imaging systems that meet the highest technical requirements of precision color rendition and brightness. Panasonic’s laser illuminated projectors do that extremely well.”
Back in 2016, Panasonic and Walt Disney Parks & Resorts first announced that Panasonic Projection Imaging Systems would be the “Official Projection Technology” of Walt Disney World Resort as well as Disneyland Resort. As part of this collaboration, Disney Parks have access to the latest projectors offering superb image processing.
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is not the first instance of Panasonic Technology being used in the parks. Other rides sporting projection imaging includes: Haunted Mansion and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom. Frozen Ever After and Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros at Epcot, and Na’vi River Journey at Animal Kingdom. On the West Coast, you’ll also find Panasonic tech at work on Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage at Disneyland Park and Radiator Springs Racers at Disney California Adventure Park.
