Walk in Walt’s Footsteps During Your Visit to Disneyland Park
Earlier this week Disney paid tribute to Walt Disney who would’ve had a birthday this week by showcasing some of the places that he loved at Disneyland Park. Be sure to jot down these locations and take a bit of time to walk in Walt’s footsteps during your visit to Disneyland Resort. Here are a few areas where Walt’s presence can still be felt!
Walt had a lifelong fondness for trains and was often photographed at the controls of a steam engine. You feel a part of that legacy every time you board the Disneyland Railroad. There’s even a framed photograph of Walt and his wife Lillian (see top) that circles the park in their custom passenger car the Lilly Belle. You can see this private cabin for yourself during The Grand Circle Tour available on select dates and times at Disneyland. Visit disneyland.com to find out more.
Walt used to love his early morning walks through Disneyland theme park. One of his favorite routes was through Sleeping Beauty Castle into Fantasyland.
If you embark on another one of Disneyland’s fantastic tours – Walking in Walt’s Disneyland Footsteps Tour you can pay a visit to Walt’s private apartment just above Main Street Fire Station. Cast Members working during Walt’s time there used to know he was in residence when he lit a lamp in the window. Disneyland keeps that tradition alive today. During the Holiday Season, the lamp is replaced with a festive Christmas Tree.
Finally, there’s no better way to evoke that sense of Walt Disney then by meandering down Main Street U.S.A. This main Disneyland thoroughfare was constructed to be reminiscent of the small towns including Marceline, Missouri that Walt remembered from his childhood.
Though Disneyland Resort has changed an evolved quite a bit since Walt took his morning strolls, we here at MickeyBlog think there is something so comforting about exploring the areas of the theme park that were favorites with Walt Disney and where his vision really came to life!
Happy Birthday, Walt!
