Amazing 2019 Disney Movies to Look Forward to
This week, the Twittersphere has been all abuzz about, well Buzz Lightyear and Woody Cowboy, and the release of the Toy Story 4 trailer, a movie which hits the theaters on June 21, 2019. So now is the perfect time to take a peek at what other Disney movies are on the agenda for next year. Mark those brand new 2019 calendars now!
Dumbo
Our favorite big-eared elephant will hit the big screen on March 29 and is directed by the whimsical Tim Burton, known for his quirky blockbuster The Nightmare Before Christmas. This version of Dumbo is loosely inspired by Walt Disney’s 1941 animated film of the same name and stars Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito, Eva Green, and Alan Arkin.
Dumbo is a young circus elephant who was born with really large ears and given the nickname Dumbo and taunted by kids. The bullying causes Dumbo’s mother to get enraged which gets her locked up. Dumbo is made to dress like a clown and perform dangerous stunts until he realizes that his ears actually let him fly!
Penguins
On April 19, the world will meet Steve, an Adélie penguin, who wants to find a life partner and start a family. Of course, the film can’t be that simple! Disney Nature follows Steve as he falls in love and starts a family. But the woman penguin of his dreams dumps him and leaves him to raise the kids on his own. This true-life movie follows Steve and his lifelong partner as they try to fix things and create the life they wanted. The trailer is absolutely adorable — check it out:
Aladdin
In May, Guy Ritchie’s live action adaptation of the 1992 Disney animated classic Aladdin hits the big screen. Will Smith will play the boisterous Genie, who was masterfully played by Robin Williams in the 1992 classic. The plot focuses on Aladdin who frees a genie from a lamp and gets his wishes granted, but when he finds out that the Princess Jasmine is in trouble, will he be able to save her?
The Lion King
In the circle of this movie (like what I did there?) we will get live-action version of this 1994 animated Disney film on July 19, 2019. It is directed by Jon Favreau who directed Iron Man, and stars the voices of Donald Glover, Beyoncé, James Earl Jones, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Billy Eichner, Seth Rogen, John Kani, John Oliver, and Alfre Woodard. The plot remains the same from the original film.
Frozen 2
We couldn’t let it go (there I go again!) so Frozen 2 is back on November 22. It has been said that there are four new songs so far in the sequel. The original movie won two Academy Awards and a Golden Globe. The plot hasn’t been released yet, but honestly, I don’t think they can do too much that’s wrong. This is going to be a mega-blockbuster no matter how you look at it.
Captain Marvel
Brie Larson is introduced as Captain Marvel in this movie that will be released on March 8, 2019. Will it tell us what happened to the Infinity of War characters? Who knows, but this movie takes place prior to the Avengers all coming together.
Infinity War (Title TK)
It doesn’t have a name yet, but it is scheduled to come out on May 3 in the United States and hopefully provide some answers as to ‘where is everyone???
So, what do you think? Are you excited for the 2019 Disney movies to be released? I sure am!
