Celebrate World Kindness Day in Disney Style
Today is World Kindness Day and, in a time we all could use a little more, we wanted to give a shout to our favorite Disney characters who are known for being extremely kind. Maybe we can all learn a little from them?
Winnie the Pooh
Our ‘tubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff’ was also stuffed with a lot of kindness. Pooh cares about everyone around him, especially his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood and, of course, Christopher Robin. He tries to make everyone feel happier and better about themselves. He is most famous for saying, “You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”
What great inspirational words! Winnie the Pooh would never hurt anybody or anything and he truly loves from his heart. Remember when he told Christopher Robin, “If you live to be a hundred, I hope I live to be a hundred minus one day, so that I never have to live a day without you.”
Speaking of Hundred Acre Wood, let’s not forget about sweet little Piglet, who is a very kind little thing, even behind all of his fear.
Belle from Beauty and the Beast
Belle is a very kind woman who shows respect to others around her. She helps others, borrows books and returns them properly and says thank you when given a gift of a book. She then goes to rescue her father from a beast and then gives him a chance to have dinner with her. She eventually sees the other side of the beast and falls in love with him. Is that not the ultimate in kindness?
Wall-E
This is the cutest, kindest robot ever. Disney’s Wall-E takes care of the Earth and his friends and he works very hard. He took care of a cockroach, he kept cleaning Earth even though he was alone, he sacrificed himself to save Earth and he helped the space people break away from Buy n Large. Wall-E takes kindness to, literally, a whole new dimension.
Rapunzel
There are many scenes in the movie Tangled where we see exactly how kind Disney’s beautiful princess Rapunzel is. She takes care of the animals around her, prioritizes her friends over anything else and takes time to play with kids and paint with them during the festival.
Mama Coco
I don’t know about you, but I know that I would have wanted a great-grandma as kind and as sweet as Mama Coco, who we met in the Disney blockbuster movie Coco. She adores her great grandson Miguel and she’s very supportive of him.
Russell from “Up”
Besides Coco, Up was probably one of the sweetest Disney movies made in years and our favorite Boy Scout, Russell, will absolutely melt your heart. Well, we know that he does exactly that to the old curmudgeon Carl, who recently lost his wife and is sitting at home doing much of nothing. Russell also lives by the motto, “A wilderness explorer is a friend to all be a plant or fish or tiny mole.” Russell epitomizes kindness.
Founded in 1998 by an organization called the World Kindness Movement, World Kindness Day encourages everyone to look deep into their hearts past religion, race, and other differences to do something nice for their neighbors and/or humankind.
