VIDEO: Disney Releases Update on Disney Skyliner Gondola System
One of the most anticipated projects coming to Walt Disney World over the next few years is the Disney Skyliner Gondola System. Once complete, the Skyliner will connect two of theme parks and a handful of resorts including Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and the soon-to-be-open Disney Vacation Club Resort, Disney’s Riviera Resort.
Disney Skyliner Update
After a visit to Walt Disney World just a few weeks ago, I could personally tell much progress was being made on the Disney Skyliner System. Disney also just released this clip below giving all of us an update on what is going to get the Skyliner ready to start taking guests around the Walt Disney World property.
Each main station has been designed to match its surroundings. In addition to the main stations at the theme parks and resorts, support towers have popped up at other Walt Disney World Resort Hotels. (A few were already up in the parking lot at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn when I was there last.) Soon, miles and miles of reinforced cables will be installed for the gondolas to carry guests across the Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios sections of Walt Disney World.
Here’s the latest update from Disney:
An exact date has not been announced for the opening of the Disney Skyliner. We do anticipate it begin to open sometime in 2019. Disney did just announce “You may even see this work underway over the next several months as teams install the miles of cable between towers.”
