Ultimate Guide to Rare Disney Character Sightings
We all love meeting our favorite characters. If you had the chance to meet Cinderella or Peter Pan, why wouldn’t you? All of the Disney parks give guests the opportunity to meet and greet with many characters or see them in shows and parades. There is normally a set list of characters that meet on a day to day basis, but every once in a while there will be a rare character sighting; a character who doesn’t make appearances too often around the Disney parks. Rare Disney character sightings are so much fun!
Disney Princes
The first one is Disney princes. Of course Cinderella always talks about Prince Charming, and Aurora always dreams about Prince Phillip but where can you actually meet the princes? Well, a few princes have one set location, but other than that, they don’t meet often. At Walt Disney World, you can find Prince Charming nightly at 1900 Park Fare restaurant.
Meeting him there would still be considered rare because you have to have a reservation at the restaurant. This goes for Prince Eric and Flynn Ryder over at Trattoria Al Forno restaurant on the Boardwalk. But are there any other times where you can meet these princes? Yes! Certain times throughout the year they meet, but its never on a regular basis. During some special ticketed events like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas party, these princes often meet with their princesses.
Most princes also join their princesses Valentine’s day and some holidays as well. If you’re lucky, it’s possible you’ll catch Prince Charming meeting with Cinderella at her Royal Table on Christmas. When it comes to meeting the princes at Disneyland, it is a bit rarer.
Captain America
The princes are really only seen at special events or on holidays like Valentine’s day. Thankfully, Flynn Ryder meets every day at Disneyland. And if that doesn’t satisfy your need, head over to Disney’s California Adventure and meet Captain America. We all have heart eyes for him, and Walt Disney World wishes he would visit their soon.
Disney Villains
Another grouping of rare characters is the Disney villains. At Walt Disney World, these characters normally only meet at hard ticketed events such as Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party or what used to be known as Club Villain. These days, villains can sometimes be found roaming areas of Epcot during late summer, right before Halloween season.
Afterwards, most villains can only be found meeting at Halloween parties. Sometimes they don’t even meet at these parties and just appear in the shows – it just depends on when you go and what is being offered that night. Villains at the party include (but is subject to change) Maleficent, Cruella DeVil, The Evil Queen, Gaston, Lady Tremaine, Anastasia and Drizella, Dr. Facilier, Jafar, Hades, The Queen of Hearts and Captain Hook.
The only villains that meet on a daily basis outside of the Halloween party are Gaston, Lady Tremaine, and the step sisters. Occasionally, you can find the Evil Queen meeting at Hollywood Studios before Fantasmic. At Disneyland, villains are a bit more frequent.
The Evil Queen and Gaston roam Fantasyland on a daily basis. Dr. Facilier is found often roaming New Orleans Square, and sometimes Jafar can be found meeting near Aladdin. Cruella DeVil is normally in Town Square, and Captain Hook is always chasing after Peter Pan. The villains that are rarer in Disneyland are Lady Tremaine and the step sisters. They are normally only seen in parades around Halloween and Christmas.
Tarzan
Tarzan is a very rare character at Disneyland to the point where he’d probably be mobbed if he was found roaming there. On the other hand, Tarzan meets on a daily basis at Walt Disney World. The character who is truly rare to meet with him is his friend Jane Porter.
Jane meets with Tarzan at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, and scattered times throughout the year at Animal Kingdom. On the contrary, Disneyland has some characters that can’t be found at Walt Disney World such as Lightning McQueen and Mater, or Oswald.
Wendy Darling
Wendy Darling from Peter Pan is a rare sighting between both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Although Wendy can be found daily in the Festival of Fantasy parade, she rarely ever does meet and greets. The only time you’ll find her is during a magical moment.
If you see any rare character who doesn’t meet on a daily basis, be sure to give us the scoop on when, where, and how! It’s always exciting to experience rare character sightings.
