The Walt Disney Company Donates $1Million in Humanitarian Aid to Communities Impacted by Hurricane Michael
Yesterday The Walt Disney Company announced that they have made a $1 million contribution toward aid relief for communities along Florida’s Gulf Coast as well as other areas impacted by the devasting effects of Hurricane Michael. This donation will support both disaster response as well as recovery efforts via the Florida Disaster Fund.
Bob Iger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company had this to say about the decision, “All of us here at Disney have the families and communities impacted by this powerful storm in our hearts. Florida has been our home for almost 50 years and our contribution will support our neighbors as they rebuild their communities in the wake of this powerful storm.
In addition to the donation announced yesterday, Disney’s employees wanting to make a contribution to eligible relief and recovery organizations will also be matched dollar for dollar by Disney Employee Matching Gifts: A Program of the Walt Disney Company Foundation.
This is part of Disney’s ongoing commitment to work with nonprofit organizations on emergency preparedness efforts. These endeavours include sharing lifesaving information with families before and during emergencies, having supplies prepositioned in the event of a natural disaster and provide resources to launch large-scale responses to a disaster.
