But trust us, you do. if you want to take a break from everything Halloween, then turn to Netflix for some other great Disney flicks that you can catch this month. Here are 5 Disney movies on Netflix you should watch soon!
A Wrinkle in Time
This was one of my favorite books growing up. Written by Madeleine L’Engle, the book earned the high distinction of a Newbery Medal and was turned into a 2018 feature film, directed by Ava Duvernay. She did a fabulous job bringing this science fiction fantasy book to life and this family friendly movie is a great way to spend time with your kids.
The movie focuses on Meg Murry, a 13-year-old whose scientist father has disappeared after teleporting to another dimension. Now Meg and her younger brother, Charles Wallace, use their powers that Meg just found out that they had, to find him. You’ll learn about Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who and Mrs. Which.
Princess Diaries
So while Meg finds out that she has powers, in Disney’s Princess Diaries, 16-year-old Mia Thermopolis finds out that she is the next princess in line to the throne of Genovia. The movie, which debuted in 2001, was the breakout role for actress Anne Hathaway, and also stars the legendary Julie Andrews as MIa’s grandmother Clarisse Renaldi.
Once you enjoy Princess Diaries — and you will — you can binge watch its sequel, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement where Mia learns she’s the bride in an arranged marriage.
Secretariat
Everyone loves an underdog and, if you do too, you’re going to absolutely love Secretariat. It’s based on the true story of the horse that is a long shot for the Super Bowl of horseracing — the Triple Crown. Set in 1973, housewife Penny Chenery (played by the lovable Diane Lane) takes over her father’s stables because of his illness, but she really is coming into it without the horseracing knowledge that she needs and she’s already a woman in a male-dominated industry.
National Treasure
Nicolas Cage stars in this 2004 Disney adventure heist film that was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Cage plays Benjamin Franklin Gates, a historian and amateur cryptologist who has to steal the Declaration and decode it first to find the greatest treasure in history. The film made more than $347 million worldwide. A sequel, titled National Treasure: Book of Secrets, was released in December 2007.
Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas
When it comes to Disney, Mickey and Christmas it’s never too early to watch a movie that puts all three of them together. Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas came out in 1999 and features all of your favorite characters, including Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Goofy, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Huey, Dewey, and Louie. The stories are broken down into three parts and entertains from start to finish.
Walt Disney Animation Studios Shorts Collection
Disney makes some great feature length movies, but you need to know that they also make some great shorts that you typically see before a feature film. In this film, they combine 12 of their best shorts, including Paperman, about a young man who sees the girl of his dreams in a skyscraper window across the street.
But how can he get her attention? Another great is Get A Horse! Where Mickey, Minnie and friends hitch a ride on a musical hay wagon – but Peg-Leg Pete tries to one-up them with his jalopy. Watch one, four or all 12 — but you’re going to want to watch all 12.
When you can’t be in the Disney parks, there’s nothing better than watching a Disney movie! We hope you enjoy all these Disney movies on Netflix!
