Walt Disney World Refurbishment Schedule For October 2018
We here at MickeyBlog don’t want you to get caught out during your upcoming visit to Walt Disney World. Stay up-to-date on the latest Walt Disney World refurbishments and closures with our monthly updates!
Refurbishments and closures as of October 8, 2018 are as follows:
Magic Kingdom:
- Monorail – The Walt Disney World® Resort Monorail System is currently undergoing refurbishment and may be on modified service and/or routes. Those planning to use this form or transportation during your Disney visit should check to be sure that the monorail is the best option available on your day of travel. Other transportation options will be available as an alternative.
- Liberty Square Riverboat – This Liberty Square attraction closed on January 8, 2018. An opening date is still to be determined.
Animal Kingdom:
Rafiki’s Planet Watch – Beginning on October 21, 2018, Rafiki’s Planet Watch and Wildlife Express will not be available to park guests. No further information on re-opening is available at this time. Guests are encouraged to keep following along with MickeyBlog.
Blizzard Beach:
- The entire water park will be closed for refurbishments from October 28, 2018 through until January 5, 2019. Guests looking to visit a water park should note that Typhoon Lagoon will remain open during this time.
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort:
- Skyliner Construction – While Disney continues construction on its Skyliner system (pictured top) noise may be heard throughout Art of Animation. However, noise should not be heard from Guest rooms between dusk and 9am. The new transportation system will provide guests with a bird’s-eye view of Disney while traveling via gondolas to the theme parks and other resorts. The work will be ongoing until further notice.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge:
- Jambo House – Rooms Refurbishment – From Mid August 2018 – Fall 2019, guests may see or hear construction but noise should not be heard from guests between dusk and dawn.
- Jambo House – Uzima Feature Pool – Uzima Springs Pool and Uzima Springs pool bar will be closed for refurbishment until early December 2018. During this time the Samawati Springs Pool and Maji Pool Bar will be open at the neighboring Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village. Brief rides via shuttle will be provided two and from Jambo house. During this time it is also possible that guests may see or hear construction but not between dusk and 9:00 am.
- Jambo House – Payment Policy Pilot – Launched back in February of this year, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Jambo House is taking part in a pilot program where transactions are handled on a cash-free basis. All purchases and services at the resort will accept MagicBands, credit cards, debit cards, Disney Gift Cards, Disney Rewards Redemption Cards and contactless options like Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and Google Pay.
Disney’s Boardwalk Inn:
- Skyliner Construction – While Disney continues construction on its Skyliner system (pictured top) noise may be heard throughout Art of Animation. However, noise should not be heard from Guest rooms between dusk and 9am. The new transportation system will provide guests with a bird’s-eye view of Disney while traveling via gondolas to the theme parks and other resorts. The work will be ongoing until further notice.
Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort :
- Skyliner Construction – While Disney continues construction on its Skyliner system (pictured top) construction noise may be seen and heard throughout Art of Animation. However, noise should not be heard from Guest rooms between dusk and 9am. The new transportation system will provide guests with a bird’s-eye view of Disney while traveling via gondolas to the theme parks and other resorts. The work will be ongoing until further notice.
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort:
- Pepper Market – From now until the Summer of 2019, Coronado Spring’s Quick Service restaurant will undergo minor refurbishment work but will remain open throughout this time. Coronado Springs other eateries: Maya Grill, Las Ventanas, Cafe Rix, Laguna Bar, Siestas Cantina and the newly re-imagined Rix Sports Bar & Grill will be in operation. Guests should also note that the Dig Site pool area, La Vida Health Club, and the Iguana Arcade will also remain open.
- The Dig Site (including Feature Pool) – Until mid-December 2018, the Dig Site including The Lost City of Cibola Pool, volleyball court, playground, Iguana Arcade and Siestas Cantina will be closed for refurbishment. During this refurbishment, other amenities including the resort’s other three leisure pools, dining and merchandise locations will remain open.
- General Construction/Rooms Refurbishment – Until further notice guests should note that noise may be heard while the Resort is undergoing refurbishments. However, noise should not be heard from guests rooms prior to 9:00 am daily.
Disney’s Pop Century Resort:
- Skyliner Construction – While Disney continues construction on its Skyliner system (pictured top) construction noise may be seen and heard throughout Art of Animation. However, noise should not be heard from Guest rooms between dusk and 9am. The new transportation system will provide guests with a bird’s-eye view of Disney while traveling via gondolas to the theme parks and other resorts. The work will be ongoing until further notice.
ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex:
- Roadwork – Until further notice intermittent overnight lane closures, lane shifts, traffic congestion and noise impacts can be expected on Osceola Parkway/Victory Way.
