The Best Disney Springs Desserts You Need to Try
It’s an off day from the Parks, and you’ve spent the day at your Resort exploring the theming, splashing in the pool, and enjoying breakfast lunch and dinner without ever having to leave your hotel. Since you don’t have Park tickets, your family starts to murmur questions of “what can we do?” and “where can we go?”, and although you won’t admit it to the young ones, your mind has been asking the same question for the past hour…you’re a bit stir crazy.
Where do you go when you don’t want to endure the hoards of people in the Parks, but you’re looking for a little something livelier than your Resort’s quiet lobby, Disney Springs is the obvious answer! I love to go to Disney Springs to eat dinner at one of the countless new restaurants that have popped up over the past few years, but my recent kick has been visiting the Springs not for dinner, but for dessert!
If you plan to roll in around 8:00 or 9:00pm, the dinner crowds will have thinned out, giving you seemingly wait-free access to all of the best, most overlooked desserts the Springs has to offer! Check out our list:
S’mores Gelato Shake (D Luxe Burger)
If it’s not for the fries, you’ve got to try D Luxe for their gelato shakes. I’m a big hand-scooped ice cream fan, and anything less than perfectly rounded scoops perched atop a cone or covered in toppings doesn’t do it for me. And then I tried the S’mores Gelato Shake.
I don’t know what the heck it is about the combo of ice cold gelato blended with crushed graham crackers, dark chocolate fudge, and a toasted marshmallow, but this unexpectedly delicious take on the shake has converted me to a D Luxe fan for life.
TIP: Order the shake with half vanilla/half chocolate gelato, you can thank me later!
Ghirardelli Chocolate Brownie
Their ice cream sundaes are the best on Property, but their brownies might be the best in Central Florida. Or all of Florida. I ALWAYS add a brownie to my sundae, but ordering a pure, unadulterated brownie sans hot fudge and whipped cream pollution is an experience all on its own. The brownie has the slightest bit of a top ‘crust’ that holds that luscious barely-cooked, chocolate chip-studded brownie together. When you order, ask to have yours served warm!
S’mores Baked Alaska (The Boathouse)
The description on the menu reads “serves four”, but there are two approaches to this colossal dessert. 1: Order one as your appetizer, entrée, and dessert all in one. 2: Plan to save PLENTY of room for dessert if you’re only planning to split it among 4 people.
This thing is huge, and admittedly its size initially tempted me to order one, but flavors that come from the massive ice cream/graham cracker crust/torched marshmallow combo is why it made the list.
Chocolate Extinction (T-Rex)
T-Rex is not my favorite place to go for dinner, by a long shot. Last summer though, I traveled to Walt Disney World with my family, and my youngest boy cousin’s trip simply would not have been complete had we not eaten among the dinos of T-Rex. I obliged, not for the food, but because I knew from a past visit the deliciousness that awaited me via the Chocolate Extinction.
The smoking gargantuan arrives at your table, and if you don’t eat it quickly, the dinos aren’t the only thing that impending meteor will take out! I like this dessert because it features my favorite dessert combo (brownies and ice cream) and the way it is siphoned allows you to eat your own portion without spoon cross-contamination, all while sharing with other members in your party! You can read my full review of when I first visited the restaurant (and the chocolate extinction!) here!
Create Your Own Apple (Goofy’s Cando Co.
If it weren’t already apparent, I absolutely indulge in new and favorite desserts when I visit Walt Disney World, but since I can never fully let my usual healthy eating habits go on vacation, the create your own apple option at Goofy’s Candy Co. is my go-to for a bit of a lighter dessert option that won’t break the calorie bank, and they are everything you have ever dreamed they would be…literally!
Because you choose everything from your chocolate dip to toppings all the way through to a finishing drizzle, your apple is guaranteed to satisfy whatever you’re craving at the moment your place your order! Which toppings would you choose? Let us know in the comments!
