New Backstage Animal Experience ‘Up Close With Rhinos’ Comes To Animal Kingdom Starting November 1st
One of the things we here at MickeyBlog love most about visiting Animal Kingdom is the wonderful opportunities to get a close-up look at the many incredible animal inhabitants that call this park home! Where else can you soar on the back of a banshee before watching incredible gorillas have their lunch or enjoy the thrills of Expedition Everest before learning about the amazing birds you see soaring through the skies? That’s why we are so excited to reveal that beginning on November 1st, Disney will be offering a brand new 60-minuted guided adventure offering incredible insights into the daily lives of the second largest land animals- the Rhinos!
Starting on November 1st this adventure will provide guests with a behind-the-scenes look at how Disney’s dedicated animal team cares for the white rhinos that you’ve probably seen while riding the Kilimanjaro Safaris. You’ll also learn how Disney is helping to save endangered rhinos in the wild. As part of this special hands-on experience, guests may even be given the opportunity to touch one of the rhinos. Trust us when we say its a wonderful opportunity that you’ll be talking about for years to come!
The goal behind this mini-tour is to inspire guests to aid in the conservation of these and other endangered creatures. Wild Rhinos are typically found in bush country and open grassy flatlands in Africa and Southeast Asia. They are among the most endangered animals in the world largely as a result of poaching. Disney is playing a vital role in Rhino conservation efforts around the globe. This includes the plight of the Sumatran rhinos which are found only in Indonesia and are critically endangered.
To date, the Disney Conservation Fund has provided more than $2 million to support rhino conservation efforts around the world. Help contribute by booking your spot on the “Up Close with Rhinos” Tour. One tour will be offered daily. Bookings can be made starting on September 22nd. The cost is $40 plus tax per person and guests must be 4 years or older to participate. Discounts will be available to select Annual Passholders as well as Disney Vacation Club Members. Reservations can be made by contacting your travel agent or calling 407-WDW-PLAY.
