National Linguine Day Was September 15th!
“Don’t know what the country’s coming to, but in Rome do as the Romans do!” How can I argue with that simple and straightforward piece of advice? On a day that is solely dedicated to an Italian staple, I don’t plan to go against this age-old piece of wisdom de Italia, and if you’re visiting Walt Disney World Resort, you shouldn’t either!
There are so many fantastic dining spots across the Resort that narrowing your search to a single cuisine is sometimes the best way to go. Since there are more Italian and Italian/American restaurants across Property than any other, pairing down your list of options to “Italian” can be just as confusing as starting at square one!
Don’t worry though, September 15th was National Linguine Day, and we’ve got the list of restaurants with the best linguine-based dishes at the Resort. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. When it’s National Linguine Day, eat linguine!
Enzo’s Hideaway
You can’t go wrong with any pasta that’s coated in scratch-made sauce, and you really can’t go wrong when that scratch-made sauce is cream-based!
Il Mulino
I love when a pasta dish offers the option to choose your sauce. With the choice of red or white clam sauce in the restaurant’s highly-regarded linguine dish, the choice is yours to make! Although technically not officially located at a Disney Resort Hotel, the restaurant in the affiliated Swan and Dolphin boasts what is, in my opinion, the best Italian food on Property!
My list of reasons why is long, but at the very top of that list is the fact that all of their pasta dishes are available in half orders. That means that if someone in your travel party isn’t all that hungry, their appetites will be easily accommodated.
Tutto Italia
When I was growing up, most of my friends avoided any food that was naturally green. Peppers, spinach, asparagus…all were shoved to the side of the plate without a second thought. When I would roll up to the cafeteria lunch table with a container of green pasta, more than a few head would turn.
I’ve been eating ‘green pasta’ since before I knew I shouldn’t like green foods, and pesto sauce has been a staple of my at-home and eating out dinner menus since as long as I can remember. Tutto Italia’s arugula/basil pesto combo makes for a pungent and flavor-forward sauce that makes the mouth water just from scent.
Plus, throw in a little spinach for some added vitamins and a bit of burrata for good measure like they do, and you’ll be thanking me for the recommendation on September 16th!
Via Napoli
My all-time favorite linguine dish in Epcot also happens to be my all-time favorite pasta dish on Property too! Linguine con Vongole Veraci (read: seafood) earns my top recommendation on National Linguine Day. The broth-like sauce evenly coats the linguine noodles without weighing them down. While the flavor of the sauce is garlic-y and abundant, its lightness leaves plenty of room for your palette to properly taste the delicious seafood that’s the true star.
The dish is certainly big enough to share, especially because you’ll be ordering a pizza too. Hey, you should never go to Via Napoli without ordering a wood-fired pie! Will you choose this dish on National Linguine Day? Which linguine-based entrée are you most excited to try? Leave us a comment and let us know!
