The Truth About Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Campfire
Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Campfire – otherwise known to few as one of Walt Disney World’s best kept secrets. It is one of the few places at Walt Disney World where you can have a Disney character experience and not have to pay for any part of it! Because Chip and Dale’s Campfire is located at Fort Wilderness Campgrounds, all you have to do is show an ID to get on property.
It’s Free…Really!
There is no fee, and you do not have to be staying there to enter the campground. In other words, you are not paying for theme park admission, and you still get a fun filled Disney experience! The campfire event is never crowded, making it for a nice secluded time with the characters.
Once you enter Fort Wilderness Campground’s property, you must park and take the resort shuttle to the outdoor movie theatre stop. After your bus arrives, there’s a small general store where Disney accessories, snacks and drinks are available for purchase.
The Atmosphere
Further down the path into the woods is a large, outdoor movie screen. There are multiple benches facing the screen and a few bonfire pits for the campfire. Behind all the seating areas you can find old, western wagons selling marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers as well as marshmallow roasting sticks. These wagons also sell drinks and popcorn.
Around 8 pm every night, Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Campfire starts with sing-a-long cowboy, country tunes. Chip and Dale join in to teach some of their favorite country dances, and then participate in the marshmallow roasting. Not everyone has to roast marshmallows, and guests are allowed to bring their own marshmallow roasting materials. The chipmunks make their way around to each bench to meet and greet with every guest. Yes, You Get to Watch a Disney Movie!
As soon as the sun is completely set and the sky is dark, a Disney movie is presented on the big screen. A variety of movies are played throughout each week and you can find the movie schedule ahead of time by calling (407)-WDW-PLAY.
