4 Overlooked Components to Disney Table Service Reservations
With no shortage of opinions regarding the best dining spots at Walt Disney World these days, the challenge of making the most of your Disney dining experience will be different for everyone. But with some thoughtful planning, you can immerse yourself in some of the most magical moments Disney has to offer. Here are some of the most commonly overlooked components when making table service reservations.
Location
Don’t want to lose precious park time, but enjoy a nice table service meal? Make your table service reservations convenient for your schedule. Finding attractions nearest to your dining location and scheduling them before or after your meal will make your park plans feel seamless.
The parks aren’t the only place to find magical dining experiences though. Many Walt Disney World resorts offer special dining experiences of their own from amazing views of Magic Kingdom’s Happily Ever After fireworks to dining with Disney Princesses. While Disney Springs is home to several world-class restaurants with unique cultural flairs along with various fun-filled shows and other live entertainment making it a fan favorite for date night or a night on the town.
Timing of Table Service Reservations
Menu changes and magical views make the time of your table service reservations one of the most important details of your dining experience. With table service locations offering meal specific menus with various food and pricing changes checking the meal specific menus at each of your dining locations can help you determine when your favorite entrée or dessert are available.
Want a fireworks or parade view? Make your dining reservation at least forty-five minutes prior to show time, checking-in to your reservation early also gives you the flexibility to wait for a coveted table. Another great way to experience these events is to make a reservation for one of the shows’ dining packages while pricey the views from the VIP area make the experience priceless.
Lastly, the timing of your table service reservations can help with crowds. Timing your reservation at odd times may help you miss the rush of traditional meal times. If parades and fireworks aren’t part of your plan making your reservations during those events may lessen the crowds also, just make sure the location doesn’t offer views of these events as they tend to become crowded both inside and outside.
Service Type
Varying by meals and locations service type is another component commonly overlooked when making Disney table service reservations. Finding a restaurant with the ideal service type can make your meal a refreshing break during your busy day. Family style or traditional table service may be more ideal than a buffet when your feet are sore from walking the parks all day. Food variety and availability can also be impacted by service type. The wide selection of food at a buffet is perfect for picky eaters instead of the set menus served during tradition table services.
Service type is also very important in character dining. Missing a character coming to your table while on a buffet run can be frustrating and waiting for a character before you make your next run can be just as frustrating. A family-style meal may provide a more enjoyable character dining experience.
Theming
From authentic cuisines to immersive locations and décor, Disney does not disappoint when it comes to enhancing your dining experience with theming. No two Disney dining experiences are the same due to the various table placements and views along with a wide selection and of food. It’s very possible to have two different dining experiences at the same location in the same day!
Sometimes the level of immersion and theming of a location may not be ideal for your party…theming elements such as lighting and sound effects may cause unwanted distractions or interruptions. The direction of theming is also an important detail to your experience, a restaurant themed towards kids may not be an ideal location to try for a quiet meal. However, with over eighty themed restaurants to choose from and close attention to theming you can find the perfect setting to make some of the best memories Disney has to offer.
