6 Things You Must Do at Disney’s Aulani Resort
Aloha and welcome to Disney’s Aulani Resort in Hawaii. Here you can put the stress of everyday life behind you – forget the alarm clocks (unless you’re getting up for a special character breakfast), work stress, kids school schedules and homework. It’s time for some major rest and relaxation. To help you get started, we’ve picked six things you must do while you’re here. Do one or all six or keep going and add to our list, but it’s a great way to get started:
See a show
When you’re in Hawaii, you must enjoy a luau and Disney’s Aulani Resort brings you the best of songs, dances and storytelling in their KA WA‘A laua. You and your family will enjoy it while feasting on authentic Hawaiian food, such as pig and prime rib, seafood and more.
Make a souvenir t-shirt
You know how your relative takes a trip and brings you back a t-shirt that says “My aunt traveled to (fill-in-the-area) and all I got was this lousy t-shirt?” Well, forget that here at Disney’s Aulani Resort, because not only are you the lucky one who is traveling, but you’ll get to make your own souvenir t-shirt that you’ll treasure for many wears to come. You’ll participate in Kāpala Ki’I, a t-shirt stamping activity unique to Hawaii where you can tell your own story. This isn’t just a kids’ activity – it’s an arts and crafts activity for all ages to enjoy.
Would you rather learn how to play a ukulele? Don’t worry, they have a class for that too! Take ‘em both!
Breath and relax
Look, you’re already in Hawaii, so your rest and relaxation meter should be rising quite a bit already, but if you need some help, try getting pampered. Disney’s Aulani’s Resort spa services are from ages five and up (kindergarten can be stressful ya know) and you can feel rejuvenated from all the stress and craziness of home while you enjoy the healing powers of lomilomi sticks. Are you expecting a little Disney fan soon? Well, the Hāpai Massage helps moms-to-be with safe, specific prenatal techniques to enhance relaxation, increase circulation, alleviate tired muscles and ease water retention. Your rest and relaxation meter should be hitting the ohm stage right about now.
Search high and low
Embark on the most memorable travel scavenger hunt you’ll ever experience. You and the kids will head onto the Menehune Adventure Trail where you’ll get a cellphone that will give you clues on your hunt. Answer a clue correctly and your phone will play videos and give you more hints. It’s technology meets adventure! According to Hawaiian legend, the Menehune (men-neh-HOO-nay) are shy, mischievous people of the Hawaiian Islands. Will you find them?
Pull up a chair and listen to a story
Get in your jammies on your blanket and listen to Uncle, a master storyteller, as he tells you and the children about Hawaiian legends and lore. His tales are filled with magic and mystery and you’ll hear it all while enjoying a nighttime fire. Aulani’s Mo’olelo Fire Pit Storytelling overlooks the beach and is a great family get together.
Disney Character Breakfast
Let’s not forget that this is a Disney and you absolutely have to enjoy a character breakfast while you are here. The menu includes pancakes, waffles, French toast, island fruits, traditional Asian offerings, house-baked pastries, daily specialties and a build-your-own omelet station. You’ll enjoy a ukulele performance by Aunty Price as well. Bring your cameras and snap those selfies with the surprise Disney characters who show up.
