Official Walt Disney World Transportation Trading Cards
Getting around Walt Disney World Resort is pretty easy. If you’re staying at one of the Disney Resort hotels, there is always a vessel just minutes away that will whisk you away to your destination of choice. Have you ever really thought about what it takes to get Walt Disney World up and running each day? Us mortals can’t wrap our heads around it, especially considering the sheer volume of visitors on any given day. With 4 theme parks, 2 water parks, Disney Springs, and 25+ resort hotels to service, the transportation around Walt Disney World is pretty important. Now you can collect Official Walt Disney World Transportation Trading Cards!
Monorails, trains, ferries, motorized sailing boats, cars, busses…the list of transportation options available to cart guests around Walt Disney World Resort is a long one. Whenever I visit, I’m almost as excited to board the monorail as I am Big Thunder Mountain, and Walt Disney World transportation fans of all ages have formed somewhat of a cult surrounding the many modes of transportation available…so much so that Disney took note!
An Unexpected Collectors’ Paradise
If you’re a transportation fan, Disney fan, merchandise collector, or card collector, you’ll love this! Each transportation vessel across Walt Disney World property has a corresponding card. Every card is different and tells you facts, poses trivia questions, and features a favorite Disney character! So what do you need to shell out to be able to participate in the trading card game? Nothing. Nada, zip, zilch, zero, however you say it, the transportation cards are completely free of charge. So just one question remains, how can we play!?

How To Get Them
Next time you board a Disney vessel ask the driver/captain/operator for a transportation card and see what they come up with. Resort busses, the MK and Epcot monorails, Magic Kingdom Ferryboat, and the Disney Springs boats are just a few examples of vessels with corresponding cards. The front of each card shows a photo of the mode of transportation and a classic Disney character. The flipside of each card is where the fun is, with facts about the chariot you’re currently sitting in and trivia questions that deal with the character on the front.
There are 27 total cards to collect, but don’t expect to be able to do it all in one trip. Sometimes, drivers will hand you a stack of 2 or 3 cards at a time when you request just one! Other times though, drivers don’t have any cards on them at all, and more often than not, I’ve returned to my party empty handed after asking for a card. There is another zinger in the game, especially if you’re a collector. Riding the Magic Kingdom ferryboat won’t necessarily guarantee you’ll get the card for the Magic Kingdom ferryboat. Drivers and operators carry random cards with them at all times, so you never know which you’ll get!

Choose from 2 Games!
If you’re traveling with more than one person in your party- and I hope you are, a lonely Disney trip isn’t as much fun- get everyone in on the game! Adults and children alike are equally welcome to participate, and drivers won’t mind if even Grandpa wants to start a card collection. Have everyone in your party ask for a card on each mode of transportation you take. Once everyone has a card in hand, use the time spent traveling to ask your party the trivia question on the back and read out the facts listed. Once everyone in your party has at least one card, you can start a trading game! Similar to pin trading, all you need is one to begin. You can set it up however you like, but my favorite way is to trade for characters.
Recently, I visited Walt Disney World with my family and came up with a fun spin on the traditional ‘trading card’ game. Everyone participated, and once we started to collect a few cards, we decided to put our Disney knowledge to the test…winner takes the card. Keep a tally of whoever correctly answers the trivia questions on each card. At the end of your vacation, whoever answered the question correctly gets to keep the card. This is a great way to both test your Disney knowledge while making the time spent traveling around the resort fly by. Do you think you can collect all 27? Personally, I’ve only succeeded in collecting 6 different cards. If you think you can do it, I want to hear about it in the comments below!

I wanted to point out that this year they made a change to the cards. They have been redesigned and there are 34 cards now. These now include the trams and I believe the Minnie Vans will also be in the rotation.
Thanks for that info, Ron! Much appreciated!!
This is so much fun. Thanks for sharing, great idea on the “winner takes the card” for the trivia idea 🙂
We were not aware of these cards. I feel there is going to be another Family Disney Collection starting on our next visit
