Disney’s Toy Story Land – In the Details
The much anticipated summer event finally occurred! On Saturday, June 30th – Toy Story Land opened to guest in Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World. Toy Story Land allows guests to shrink down to the size of a toy and enter Andy’s backyard to interact with all of his toys. And boy – does this land Play BIG! We, at MickeyBlog.com, have been anxiously awaiting all the Toy Story Land details, and they fulfilled every expectation. The most talked about activity from the opening is of course, the two new rides – Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Swirling Saucers. We knew these would be great, and they ARE. But what most guests are talking about is the immersive theming of the actual land, itself!
Our travel partner – MickeyTravels – was provided a sneak peak of this new land a few days ago, and I am super excited to share with you some of the AMAZINGLY INCREDIBLE Toys Story Land details!
So, even if you can’t see it in person … yet … let’s step inside Andy’s backyard for a tour of the exceptional details of Toy Story Land!

Color Color Everywhere!
Toy Story is one of my favorite Pixar movies of all time, and the most visual feature of the movies is the brightly colored environment where Woody and Buzz reside. Toy Story Land is filled with vibrant colors – red, yellow, blue, green, orange – that emphasize everything we love about the Toy Story franchise movies!
The colors are fun, whimsical, child-like, and nostalgic for kids and kids-at-heart. The land fills a guest with a sense of wonder and stimulates the eyes with gorgeous color everywhere!

How’d they do that? You really ARE small!
Everything surrounding you is created in a PERFECT scale to make you feel as if you truly are one of Andy’s toys. Buzz and Woody (as well as all of the other characters) were meticulously sized to welcome you into the backyard for some fun!
Note the SIZE of the buildings in the background behind Buzz Lightyear and the size of the Pixar Ball behind the Green Army Men!! Everything is BIG so you feel SMALL!

Even the details are DETAILED!
From small notes in “chalk” on trash cans to overturned Babybel Cheese made into seats at Woody’s Lunch Box, every detail is thoughtfully noted. No matter where you look, you’ll find something small and magical that is filled with whimsy and wonder!
Inside the cue at Slinky Dog Dash … Woodgrain on the building blocks and even a score card noted on the Yahtzee Boardgame cover.
Move over Tangled Bathrooms, Andy created the word “Restrooms” out of Scrabble! Here’s hoping he landed that M on a triple score square!
Oh, the Rides! The rides!
Interior and exterior elements of the rides in Toy Story Land complete the picture of Andy’s backyard being a toy’s paradise.
We all love Toy Story Mania, and it fits right to the new land. It’s new entrance has a child-like design that feels as if Andy created it using his very own art supplies.
The new rides deliver an experience that is fun for the whole family. One of the classic scenes from the first Toy Story movie … you can now experience how the Aliens felt to be chosen by “the clawww”. This spinning ride is similar to the Mad Tea Party spinning teacups in Magic Kingdom that young kids will love!
Slinky Dog Dash is a LOT more fun than your standard roller coaster. It’s long with winding dips and turns that make you feel as if you are being pulled by the slinky dog. At one point, you will feel as if you are flung forward and then jolted back, just like you are on a coiled spring!

Andy’s Imagination is EVERYWHERE!
Most of what we know about Andy from the movies is through the eyes of his toys. But with Toy Story Land, we really get to KNOW the wonderful boy who played BIG! His imagination and creativity is everywhere. A lunch box and thermos turned into a quick service restaurant, Popsicle stick benches, hand-written board games scribbled on the walls of the Slinky Dash cue, and Green Army Men keeping watch over everything!
The sign for Slinky Dog Dash is “hand-drawn” and attached with “tape” to the word Dash, which looks like it was torn from another toy box. Even the trash cans get to have some fun as they are “built” out of Duplo Legos.
This boy really does have a HUGE imagination and LOVES his toys! And we LOVE him for creating this land for us! And hopefully, it will inspire young minds (and old ones, too) to dream BIG with their next creative adventure! In Toy Story Land, the possibilities are endless!0
