7 Best Rides at Walt Disney World
Heading to Walt Disney World in Orlando for vacation and trying to figure out what rides you want to go on? It can be a daunting task because they are all a blast of fun in their own way. But unless you have time to go on every single ride in every single park, you’ll have to narrow down the list a bit. We picked some of our favorites to get you started. Here are the 7 best rides at Walt Disney World:
The Twilight Zone’s Tower of Terror
Based on the famous television show The Twilight Zone, this ride will take your breath away as it drops you floor after floor in an elevator shaft – well, you’re sitting in a car, don’t worry! The story behind this thrill ride, located at Hollywood Studios, is that five souls disappeared from the Hollywood elevator in 1939. The Twilight Zone’s Tower of Terror puts you in the same seat as those who are unfortunately missing. It’s one of those stomach-dropping rides that you’ll never forget – if you make it out. If the kiddies are afraid of the dark, have them sit this one out.

Splash Mountain
Log flumes are one of my favorite types of amusement park rides and Disney’s Splash Mountain ranks at the top of my list. Splash Mountain starts out as a nice calm water ride where you’ll see 100 animatronic characters in Critter Cave, the Fishing Place, and the Old Swimming Hole. Br’er Bear and Br’er Fox are chasing each other, and you get to watch all the fun. Finally, your ride builds up to exhilarating and drenching five-story drop! Splash Mountain, which can be found at Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland, is one of those don’t-miss rides, but say cheese though! You’ll be documenting your ride with a souvenir photo.

Soarin’
Have you ever just wanted to feel like a bird, soaring high about everything while enjoying some of the most beautiful views? Soarin’, located inside Epcot’s Future World, gives you that opportunity in a gentle, fun way. You will soar over the Great Wall of China, the Iguazu Falls and Australia’s Sydney Harbour. The 180-degree, 80-foot IMAX projection screen captures a realistic hang-gliding trip on this extremely popular ride.

Space Mountain
Space Mountain is one of those iconic roller coaster rides at Disney World that everyone who is physically able to ride it, should ride it. The indoor coaster is fast and furious and will leave you breathless as you ascend a 180-foot mountain and then drop, twist and turn. Located in Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrow land, it was created with the help of a NASA astronaut.

It’s a Small World
It’s time to slow down your day, step into this slow-moving boat and enjoy a trip around the world. This water ride, which you can find at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, is family-friendly and provides a glimpse into many different cultures and ethnicities from around the world. Yes, you’ll get the It’s a Small World song stuck in your head, but that’s okay. It’s a great Disney tune.

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
Sing with me: “Winnie the Pooh, Winnie the Pooh, tubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff,” and boy does he get himself into many adventures. Now, you’re invited along. Climb into a big honeypot – don’t worry, you won’t get sticky – and travel through the 100-acre wood. Be sure to wave high to Winnie’s friends – Rabbit, Tigger, Roo and Owl as you travel through. Kids of all ages will adore The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh that appeals to the child in all of us.

Star Tours
In a galaxy far, far, away…well, in Walt Disney World Resort’s Hollywood Studios, there is a ride for Star Wars fans that can’t be missed. You’ll be riding a Starspeeder 1000 and beat the Imperial forces. You’ll fight a battle on Crait and battle sea creatures. Of course, you’ll have to escape Darth Vader. May the force be with you, but you won’t need it! Star Tours is truly out-of-this-world!
Just remember that many of these rides have height requirements to be able to ride. Others, such as Space Mountain, require that you do not have certain physical limitations, so be sure to check out each ride before you wait on line.
