Disney Food News: New Menus and Snacks at Walt Disney World
This morning, I was woken up by to the sweet, natural sounds of my phone buzzing on a table. It wasn’t the way I had planned to start my day, and when I got up and saw the very urgent notification, I knew my plan for rolling over and catching a few more zz’s was not in the cards for me. For the 6th time this week, the message I received this morning detailed yet another new Disney food item whose image succeeded in making me hungry hours before breakfast! I guess the 6th time is the charm this time, so without further ado, here are the brand-newly announced food items being served now across Walt Disney World Resort.
A Brand-New Menu
The Diamond Horseshoe restaurant in Magic Kingdom will offer a brand-new lineup of a la carte and platter items just in time for the summer rush. The a la carte menu will offer sandwiches with BBQ pulled pork, carved beef brisket, and turkey salad served on a multigrain roll.
It’s nice that this venue is adding an la carte ordering option, although the platters sure look to be a much more filling choice that’ll sustain you through the rest of your attraction-hopping. BBQ pork, chicken thighs, carved beef brisket, and a veggie platter are among the offerings, and no matter which main you choose, you get to pick 2 tasty sides from a list that includes mac and cheese, potato salad, and corn bread. Save room for dessert, because the trio of sweet treats is rounding out the cowboy-friendly menu!
Sweet Drinks
The Instagram famous Purple Wall in Tomorrowland has received a face-lift in the form of a new paint job with a funky new futuristic design. If you’re looking to keep your social media on point while you’re on vacation, you’d better grab a Purple Wall Slush from Tomorrowland Terrace to hold during your photo shoot! The hue of the drink was clearly crafted to match perfectly with the wall, and its vanity is definitely what’s going to help drive its sales. Although…Boba peals swimming in purple-tinted taro tea and topped with whipped cream doesn’t sound like it’d taste too bad, either…
At All Star Movies Resort, you can now sip your cookie! I mean, sip the Scene Stealer Cookie Milkshake! The shake looks to be made with vanilla ice cream swirled with chocolate sauce and judging from the name, it looks like you can expect to suck up some cookie bits through your straw too!
Cupcakes for Everyone!
Two new cupcakes have been announced this week. The first is a pineapple cupcake from All Star Music Resort that will make the day of any Dole Whip fan out there! The cupcake is vanilla, but it’s the swirl of pineapple crème that makes it uniquely irresistible. Plus, it comes topped with a full syringe of pineapple whip gel that you can inject into your cupcake, so you can play with your food and eat it too.
This Belle-inspired cupcake is already selling out over at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot- and I’m not surprised…look at the amazing detailing! The bodice of Belle’s dress is hand-made from edible ingredients while the skirt portion comprises of hand-piped lemon buttercream. The bright, pastel colors of the exterior are deceiving, because this cupcake is dark chocolate and is filled with dark black cherries!
Wine and Dine
Not only are there plenty of new food and drink offerings being added to existing restaurant menus, there is an entirely new wine bar opening this week over at Disney Springs! Wine Bar George has been a long time coming since its original announcement many months ago, and those of us who enjoy a glass (or two) of wine ahead of a nice dinner have been biding our time as we impatiently waited for the opening announcement!
There are way too many wines to list- over 130 to be exact- so you’ll certainly find one for you. I’m really looking forward to the small plate and wine pairings from the first-ever Disney restaurant with a resident Sommelier. This meat and cheese board is making me hungry…and thirsty! I’m certainly going to check out Wine Bar George on my next visit, and I want to know which of these food items you can’t wait to try! Let me know in the comments below.
