Your Disney World Checklist: One Week Before Your Trip
You’ve been counting down the days until your next Disney World trip. You’re so excited you can hardly stand it! Here are a few important tasks to take care of before you leave for your vacation.
Checklist: One Week Before Your Vacation
1. Double check for last-minute dining or recreation reservations.
Since Disney requires cancellation of dining, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, spa, or other reservations at least 24 hours in advance, many travelers are finalizing their plans around this time.
Keep an eye out for that coveted Be Our Guest reservation you couldn’t find, or call 407-939-7895 to see if a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique appointment opened up for your little princess. You never know what will open up – as long as you’re flexible with your vacation itinerary, you may get some great, last-minute reservations!
2. Complete online check-in if you haven’t already.
I love using online check-in for my Disney World resort reservations. By doing this, you don’t necessarily have to stop by the front desk upon your arrival. Disney will send you a text message when your room is ready, and your Magic Band will let you into the room! It’s as easy as that.
However, I still like to stop by the front desk quickly on my way in in order to make sure my dining plan is activated, ask any questions I thought of, and to get that Disney welcome only Cast Members can provide.
3. Understand the current bounce-back offer.
Bounce-back offers are discounts offered to current Disney World guests for dates in the future. It’s important that you understand the offer and consider it ahead of time to avoid making a decision under pressure.
These discounts are usually a percentage off of a Disney resort room reservation and details can be found in your Disney resort room or by asking your travel agent for details before you leave. Bounce-back offers can be booked for future dates anytime during your current Disney World vacation, as late as midnight EST on the day you check out.
4. Make a packing list and shop for what you need.
There are always a few items I want to bring on my Disney World trip that I suddenly realize I don’t already have in the house to pack. Amazon Prime is a lifesaver in these cases! Personally, some of my most important packing items are quart-size Ziploc bags, a portable cell phone charger, multiple pairs of sunglasses, sunscreen, a refillable water bottle, an easy-to-carry drawstring backpack, and granola bars or other small snacks.
5. Put your Magic Bands and luggage tags somewhere you won’t forget them!
These are some of the most IMPORTANT items for your vacation! Just put them somewhere special where you won’t forget them. If you forget your luggage tags, don’t worry you can present the baggage claim tickets assigned by your airline and Disney will still collect your luggage for you! Guests also have the option of picking up your own luggage at the baggage carousel. If you forget your Magic Bands, you’ll need to tell your front desk immediately upon arrival. If your Magic Bands didn’t make it to you on time, they should be waiting for you at your resort front desk.
6. Clear your cell phone of photos!
It never fails – I start a vacation and suddenly I realize my cell phone is almost out of storage space. Take care of this before you leave to make sure you can capture as many memories as possible without stressing about storage space!
7. Hold your mail and get house or pet sitters.
Depending on the length of your vacation and whether you have pets, these may not be necessary. Just some things to consider that you don’t want to forget about!
8. Prep a freezer meal or two.
You may not want to spend time on this before you leave, but to not worry about cooking or eating out (again) on the day you return from your vacation is an amazing feeling. Search freezer meals on Pinterest and you’re sure to find lots of ideas!
9. Refill medications.
Don’t stress about this the morning you leave. Take care of this a week before you leave so that you have everything you need, and you’re not worried about filling prescriptions in Orlando.
10. Do laundry.
Ok, so this is not a fun one, but having all of the clothes you want to take with you clean and ready to go is one more way to leave town stress free! Don’t forget the Disney shirts you bought specifically for this vacation!
With one week before your vacation, you’re probably dying to be in Disney as soon as possible – but taking care of these tasks will make your vacation stress free and keep you busy in those final days before you leave! Use this checklist and have a MAGICAL vacation!
