Tasty Treat: Oooey Gooey Toffee Cake
Thanksgiving is only two days away, and I am ready to celebrate! To honor the holiday, we are going to feature a Tasty Treat from a restaurant where traditional Thanksgiv-ing meals are served all year long! It’s time to add the Oooey Gooey Toffee Cake to your next Disney vacation menu!
What is it?
A vanilla butter cake topped with an oooey gooey toffee fill-ing. Served warm and slightly gooey, this cake is topped with vanilla bean ice cream, toffee bits, chocolate and car-amel sauce.
Why try it?
Have you ever baked homemade chocolate chip cookies and eaten one warm from the oven? Fully baked – the warm cookie is still soft and gooey with melted semi-sweet chocolate that clings to your fingers. It’s amazing, right? Well … the Oooey Gooey Toffee Cake takes this experi-ence to epic proportions! This buttery cake is soft with a caramel crisp edge. The toffee filling – a combination of baked sugar, butter, cream cheese, egg, chocolate chips and toffee bits – is slightly gooey yet not liquid. Served warm, melted chocolate bits and warm toffee combine with the buttery cake for a flavorful bite of salty sweet buttery goodness. The sweet and creamy vanilla bean ice cream provides a nice cold contrast to the warm and gooey cake. Finally, the toffee bit topping adds crunch to this decadent dessert.
Where can I find it?
Oooey Gooey Toffee Cake can be found on the lunch and dinner menu at Liberty Tree Tavern. This table service restaurant, located in Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom, is artfully themed after a traditional Colonial-style inn. From the welcoming hearth at the center of the waiting area to dining rooms themed after various Founding Fathers, Lib-erty Tree Tavern is a feast for the eyes and the belly! Even the stairs have a slight creaking noise from “age” to enhance the colonial theme. This restaurant serves a family-style “Patriot’s Platter” of roasted turkey, pot roast, pork roast, green beans, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and mac n cheese. Don’t forget to ask for cranberry sauce and be sure to save room for dessert! Reservations are avail-able 180 days prior to your visit and are highly recom-mended!
