My Top Five Ways to Use Snack Credits at Disney World
It always breaks my heart to hear people say they returned from their Disney vacation with unused Disney snack credits. You paid for your snack credits, so you should use them! First, what are snack credits? Dining plans are available when you purchase a Magic Your Way Vacation Package. You are entitled to two snack credits per day under all three of the dining options. This number is based on the number of nights in your stay. For example, if you are staying on property for five nights, then you are allotted 10 snack credits per person. These can be used at anytime. Now that you know all about snack credits, let’s look at my top five ways to use snack credits.
Starbucks
One of my favorite ways to use snack credits is at Starbucks. There is a Starbucks located at each of the four theme parks at Walt Disney World, as well as Disney Springs. When my husband and I go on vacation, we like to drink Starbucks every morning as a special treat. Having our coffee included in the dining plan saves us quite a bit of money on vacation. If you love Starbucks as much as I do, then you will enjoy using your snack credits for your morning cup of coffee. What’s better, you can get any size you want. So go ahead and enjoy a venti, you’re on vacation after all!
Get a specialty drink instead of bottled water
I am an avid water drinker, but I refuse to use a snack credit for a bottle of water. If you like to drink water, don’t worry; you can bring your own water bottle into the theme parks with no problem. If you are staying on property, you are given a refillable drink mug that you can use for your water. There are plenty of water fountains all throughout the parks if you need to refill. You can also order a cup of water at any restaurant free of charge. Save those snacks credits for a specialty drink. You can get a frozen raspberry lemonade at the Test Track Cool Wash or get a Japanese shaved ice at the Kabuki Cafe to help you cool off.
Not a soda drinker? Get an extra snack instead
I personally drink a lot of water and I’m not a big fan of soda. When you eat at a quick service restaurant, a drink is included with your meal as part of the dining plan. It’s a waste for me to get that drink because I won’t really drink it. I also don’t want to lose money by not getting that drink though. I have discovered that I can drink my water and get an extra snack with my meal instead of ordering a fountain drink. For example, when I ate at the Flame Tree Barbecue in Animal Kingdom, my meal did not come with fries. I love fries, so I ordered a side of fries in place of a fountain drink. This kept me from paying extra money to add a side item to my meal. You can always ask a Cast Member for help with this if you aren’t sure.
Goofy’s Candy Company
My family likes to take a trip to Disney Springs on our down day from the theme parks. There is so much to do at Disney Springs! You can eat at one of the amazing restaurants, go shopping, go bowling, watch a movie or let the kids build a racecar at the Lego Store. Goofy’s Candy Company is also located at Disney Springs. This candy store is filled with different kinds of candy and treats that you can purchase with your snack credits. One thing I love about Goofy’s Candy Company is that you can order a custom gingerbread man for just one snack credit. My son was able to fill out a form detailing how he wanted his gingerbread man decorated. Then he got to watch a Cast Member decorate it right in front of him. It was a pretty magical treat!
Souvenirs
Last, I like to use our remaining snack credits in place of souvenirs. My husband and I want our kids to value experiences more than things. For this reason, we don’t let them get a lot of souvenirs when we go on vacation. At the end of our Disney vacation, we let the kids use our remaining snack credits to buy treats to take home. They can purchase a bag of candy from Goofy’s Candy Company or they can get a Mickey crispy treat from the Main Street Confectionery. This saves us money and we aren’t stuck with another toy that they won’t play with.
These are just a few ways that I like to use snack credits. Have a question about how you can get the best value from the dining plan? I would be happy to answer any questions you have! Contact me today!
