5 Tips for celebrating special occasions at Walt Disney World
What are you celebrating on your vacation to Walt Disney World? Graduation? Birthday? Anniversary? Retirement? No matter what the occasion, Disney magic is certainly the key to making it the fairest celebration of them all! Below are a couple of ideas to make celebrating special occasions at Walt Disney World extra special.
1. Get a celebration button
Anytime you are celebrating a special occasion at Walt Disney World, you should ask for a button! You can ask for one when you check-in to your Disney World hotel, or you can request one at any of the Guest Services locations throughout the entire WDW resort.
If they do not have a button specific to what you are celebrating, you can get an “I’m celebrating” button and have them write the special occasion on it. Then wear your button with pride as you stroll around Walt Disney World! Hopefully, Cast Members and other guests will give you their well wishes.
2. Take a Specialty Cruise
At Disney Resort marinas in both the Magic Kingdom and Epcot areas, guests can charter a private yacht party. The boats can be decorated with banners and balloons for your special occasion at no additional cost. Each cruise is accompanied by a captain of the ship and includes an assortment of snacks and sodas.
Should you want to add a bit more to the celebration, you may enhance the experience with a private dining menu with several options from which to choose. (Note: The private dining menu is an additional cost). For the most magical cruise experience, plan to take a Fireworks Cruise to see fireworks at either the Magic Kingdom or Epcot in the evening.
Yachts can accommodate 8 – 18 guests depending on the size of the boat. Be sure to ask your travel agent about making these special reservations!
3. Deliver a special gift with Disney Floral & Gifts
Surprise your loved one with a special gift that can be delivered directly to your Walt Disney World Resort room! Disney Floral & Gifts has an assortment of gifts from which to choose that range from flowers & tiaras to in-room parties!
You can select gifts by occasion, character, or you can work with their team to customize a gift. Worried about the timing of the delivery? No problem! Their team will deliver to your room after you check into the resort even if you are not there. Should you want to plan a specific time for delivery, you can make the request at the time of reservation (an additional fee may be incurred).
The Disney Floral & Gifts team will deliver to a small radius outside of the Walt Disney World Resort for guests not staying on property, but you should check with them to make sure your place of stay is within their delivery area.
4. Plan a special dinner
The Walt Disney World Resort has a wide array of restaurants that are perfect for celebrating special occasions! If you are looking for something fun & whimsical, try one of the character dining experiences. Wear your celebration button to alert the characters of your special occasion.
If you are looking for an entertaining evening, try a specialty show like the Hoop Dee Doo Review. This is an especially fun experience if you are celebrating a birthday as the performers typically inform the audience of birthday celebrations! If you are looking for something sophisticated, try any of the signature dining experiences within the Walt Disney World Resort.
When making reservations for any of these dining experiences, be sure to let your travel agent or Cast Member know what you will be celebrating at the time of reservation. Should you want to order a special cake to enhance the celebration, you may order one through Disney dining when making your reservation! (Hint: Streamline this process by working with your travel agent to do all of the work for you).
5. Commemorate the occasion with a special memento
Whatever the occasion, it is YOUR day, and you will want to remember it. Get your Mickey or Minnie ears embroidered, or buy special ‘ears’ to wear for this celebration. Have t-shirts made prior to your trip (Etsy is a great place to look).
Buy an ornament from one of the Christmas shops in either Disney Springs or the Magic Kingdom and personalize it with your event. See one of the artists in the parks and have a caricature drawn to commemorate your special day! Buy that Disney Pandora charm that has been catching your eye! The options are endless!
