D23 Updates for Disney Resorts and Disney Cruise Line
Even though Walt Disney World has been a dream-like vacation for families across the United States (and ahem, the world), for more than 40 years, the team that makes magic happen never rests. That’s why Disney is always tirelessly coming up with new concepts, fun attractions and better, smarter ways for you to enjoy your getaway from reality into the whimsical, inspiring land of laughter and play. Because we’re on Mickey Mouse’s good graces, we are lucky to have the scoop on the latest news from the top Mouseketeers, and we’re happy to let you in on the secret. If you’re a Star Wars fan, prefer your Disney adventure on the sea or want to escape to a Riviera-inspired getaway, you’ll want to know about the latest happenings in Disney’s resort offerings. These Disney updates are MAGICAL!
The only catch? To get the full story, you’ll need to check your sources by contacting one of our specialized Disney agents who can make sure you’re part of the grand opening or the first weekend experience for these three gamechangers. Here’s a tease of what to expect in the coming year:
Disney is Opening They’re 15th (!!) Vacation Club
When you speak to one of our sponsor’s travel agents, they might ask you about your room-and-board hopes and dreams for when you visit the park. While there are surely plenty of hotels outside of the Disney property, staying on the grounds can provide a multitude of benefits. It’s easier for tiny legs to get from point A to B, you never have to leave the splendor of the park, because the Disney-inspired touches continue throughout your experience, and with plenty of mouse-eared shaped pools, it’s the ideal way to cool down after a day of sightseeing. There are already plenty of vacation clubs at the Walt Disney World, but since so many guests enjoy them, they’re opening their 15th spot near Epcot. Currently called the ‘Disney Riviera Resort’ – the cat’s not out of the bag yet if it’ll be inspired by the Mexican Riviera or French Riviera, but either way, one of it’s most anticipated features is the rooftop restaurant. From here, you can replenish from your busy day, all while watching the breath-taking views of nighttime spectaculars at Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Yep, You Can Be Part Of Star Wars
Even if your littlest gal is so obsessed with princesses, you can barely get her to wear anything but a dress-up gown, your oldest might lean more toward the Star Wars branch of Disney. Or maybe you and your spouse connected on a shared interest in binge-watching all of the movies, ultimately resulting in more than one Darth Vader hanging out in your house. More likely than not, every family has a connection to the beloved and infamous Star Wars series, and thanks to Disney, you will soon be able to stay at an immersive resort that’ll take you to a whole new galaxy, (not so) far, far away.
While Disney is remaining pretty mum about specific details, we do know that from the moment you walk in, you and your family will be part of a new storyline. All of the employees at the resort will not only be in costume, but they’ll be in character, taking you through this theater-like check-in process and stay. And get this: while you’re inside the resort, it’ll feel like you’re truly in a spaceship, with windows not revealing the Florida sunshine outside, but rather, space. May the Force be with you as you anxiously await it’s opening, which has yet to be announced.
Another Ship Coming to Disney’s Cruise Line
You already know about the amazing wonders of the Disney Cruise Line, especially if you’re a globetrotter who doesn’t only want to experience the rides and attractions that Disney offers, but see international sites, too. Thanks to the success of the many cruise offerings, Disney isn’t just opening one more ship, but three of them! Bob Chapek, the chairman of Parks and Resorts explained: “We decided two ships wouldn’t be enough. By the time all three new ships are sailing, we’ll have nearly doubled the size of our existing fleet.” These ships will be built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, with all completed by 2023. While they will all be the same size, featuring 135,000 gross tons and 1,250 guest rooms, they will have various experiences and themes.
