5 Must Do Honeymoon Activities at Walt Disney World
Thinking about a Walt Disney World Honeymoon? Here are 5 must-do activities!
1. Get a “Just Married Button”
The first thing to do after checking into your Disney resort is to ask for a “Just Married” button. This informs other guests and Cast Members that you are celebrating something special, and typically they will congratulate you throughout the day! While nothing is guaranteed, you may get additional perks like a free glass of Prosecco or a special dessert with your dinner. Although you shouldn’t go into your trip expecting these perks, Disney certainly tries to add a bit of magic wherever they are able! If you are not staying at a Disney resort, you can go to Guest Services at any of the theme parks to ask for a button. (Hint: In my experience, the resorts do not always carry the same inventory of buttons as the theme parks.) If your resort doesn’t have the button you want, you can try for it at one of the theme parks. Also of note, sometimes a “Happily Ever After” button or something similar is used instead of “Just Married.”
2. Try a Special Tour
Disney is always a magical experience, but to document this very special occasion, sometimes it is nice to do something out of the ordinary. I suggest trying one of the Walt Disney World guided tours for a memorable time! There are many to choose from such as the Keys to the Kingdom Tour where you get a behind-the-scenes tour of the Magic Kingdom. We did the Epcot Seas Adventures- Aqua Tour which gave us a unique behind-the scenes look at the Living Seas Pavilion in Epcot. We went snorkeling in one of the tanks and observed the plethora of sea creatures living and cared for there. Some of these tours can be lengthy in time, so if time and/or budget are a concern, tours such as Epcot’s Behind the Seeds tour provide as memorable an experience in a shorter period of time
3. Have a Date Night in World Showcase in Epcot
The World Showcase can be a fun and romantic setting for honeymooners. First, the backdrop of the various countries makes for some excellent pictures. For example, you can have your picture taken in front of the Eiffel Tour, an English garden, and a Mayan Temple all in one trip! The reason the World Showcase makes such a great date night is because of the food and libation offerings. Consider it a progressive dinner around the world; try an appetizer in one country, a main dish in a second, and dessert at another. For any vino lovers out there, guests can indulge in a wine tasting in a few countries throughout the World Showcase. If interested, check out the Epcot World Showcase Wine Walk! Not a wine fan? No problem! There are plenty of other options for whatever beverage tickles your fancy. Live performances provide an abundance of entertainment and unique gift shops in each country ensure you will find an extra-special memento of your trip.
4. Take a Carriage Ride
What can be more romantic than a horse-drawn carriage ride? Honeymooners have the option of selecting carriage rides from two locations. First, there are carriage rides located at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort. Riders will have the opportunity to travel along the Sassagoula River to experience the southern feel of the resort. The second option is to venture over to Fort Wilderness for a carriage ride through a pine and cypress forest to observe the wildlife inhabitants. Either location offers a 25-minute carriage ride and costs around $45.
5. Dinner at Victoria & Albert’s- a Truly Grand Experience
Victoria & Albert’s is a truly gourmet dining experience, unique to any other dining event in all of Walt Disney World. Signature dining does not even begin to describe it. If you are looking for a dinner that is exquisite during your Disney World honeymoon, the peak of romance and culinary genius, you will want to try Victoria & Albert’s. Not only was I fortunate enough to dine here during our honeymoon, my husband and I also selected the luxurious dining option in the Queen Victoria room (an intimate room with a fireplace and four tables exclusive to parties of two with dedicated wait staff). We enjoyed a ten-course dinner paired with wine and listened to a harpist play beautiful tunes in the background. After dinner, we were treated to white-glove chocolate truffle service, presented with a souvenir menu, and given a treat for breakfast the next morning. All ladies were handed a long-stemmed rose at the end of the evening. Guests choosing to dine at Victoria and Albert’s have three options: the main dining room, the Queen Victoria Room, and the ultra-exclusive Chef’s Table. Honeymooners should dress to impress when dining here, expect an eclectic menu, and plan for an extended, once-in-a-lifetime, culinary feast. Diners should also expect a higher-than-normal price tag for this restaurant. I’d suggest checking the dining options online to set proper expectations.
Any honeymoon in Walt Disney World is special, but for a little added magic, try some of the suggestions above.
