Robert Zemeckis Could Be the Director for Disney’s Live-Action ‘Pinocchio.’
Here at MickeyBlog, we’ve shared various rumors about more Disney animated classics being given the live-action treatment. If recent reports are anything to go by, it looks like a live-action version of Pinocchio could actually become a reality.
According to various sources including Variety, Robert Zemeckis is apparently in talks to direct this much-loved story about a wooden boy that comes life!
Zemeckis is no stranger to big Disney projects having directed 1988’s groundbreaking live-action animation hybrid film Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Andrew Miano and Chris Weitz are reportedly on board to produce with Weitz also working on the script. Weitz most recently penned the script for Paddington.
As of going to print, Zemeckis has yet to sign on the dotted line but various sources are reporting he’s been considering the project for a few months. He is currently at work on the film “The Witches” for Warner Bros.
If Zemeckis were to sign on, the next step will be casting for the role! So far, casting rumours have been few and far between though we did here a few months back that Tom Hanks had passed on the role of Geppetto.
It’s no wonder that Disney continues to set its sights on live-action projects with both Aladdin and The Lion King crossing the billion-dollar mark this year!.
