Bob Iger Lets Us in on a Secret: His Favorite Ride at Disneyland?
Disney CEO Bob Iger is very, very diplomatic. But every now and then, it’s also very clear that he’s a Disney fan at heart.
For example. His fellow fans now know what his favorite ride at Disneyland is: Pirates of the Caribbean!
YO HO, YO HO!
The OC Register’s Brady MacDonald recently told his readers:
Iger revealed his favorite Disneyland ride during an on-stage interview with Academy Award-winning producer Brian Grazer at Glendale’s Alex Theatre as part of a promotional tour for his new book, “The Ride of a Lifetime: Lessons Learned from 15 Years as CEO of the Walt Disney Company.”
“It was the last attraction Walt created. It opened after he died,” Iger said during the conversation, according to Deadline Hollywood. “It still has an essence about it, a simplicity to it. Also sometimes it’s just dark and quiet.”
Iger even intoned his best imitation of the ride’s iconic phrase, “Dead men tell no tales,” to boisterous applause from the Alex Theatre audience. The original version of the ride’s famous warning was done by Disney voice actor Paul Frees, the Ghost Host from the Haunted Mansion, according to D23 magazine.
A Pirate’s Life For Bob
Iger also drew applause by offering his best imitation of the voice on the ride that intones: “Dead men tell no tales.”
And another question and answer surely elicited smiles:
When asked about his retirement plans after 45 years with one company, Iger said: “I’m going to Disneyland!”
Me too, Bob. Me too.
