Rumors Take Flight Regarding Live-Action “Peter Pan”
A new week means a new live-action rumor in the Disney-sphere! This week, the suggestion is that a new live-action Peter Pan could be in the works. According to a recent post on We’ve Got This Covered (who claims to have sources on the inside) Walt Disney Studios is planning on bringing Peter, Wendy, the Lost Boys and the rest of the crew to the big screen.
According to the piece it’s still early days for the project which means that casting has yet to be finalized. Though critics’ attention seems to be waining when it comes to live-action remakes the overwhelming Summer success of both “Aladdin” and “The Liong King” has proven that if you make live-action Disney remake audiences will come!
The most recent attempt at a live-action Peter Pan was actually released by Universal Pictures back in 2003 but ended up not being a favorite with audiences or critics and cost the studio over $70 million in losses. It will be interesting to see how Disney will fare if the project is indeed given the greenlight.
For those following along with MickeyBlog, this follows recent rumors that live-action versions of Pocahontas, Tarzan and Pinocchio are all works in progress. However, the only two that have been officially confirmed by Walt Disney Studios are The Little Mermaid and Mulan. Readers are encouraged to keep following along with MickeyBlog for the latest Disney film news and updates.
