5 Reasons to Start Planning Your Visit to the NBA Experience in Disney Springs
The all-new NBA Experience at Disney Springs opens one week from today! Once open, the new venue which was designed by Disney in collaboration with the NBA will offer 13 basketball-related experiences. Some of these experiences include Dribble, which allows Guests to work on ball-handling skills and Dunk! that features an adjustable rim so you make your own personal highlight-reel slam. There’s also an Arcade where you can challenge your friends and family on the Pop-A-Shot game. There’s even Trivia to see who is the biggest baller when it comes to NBA and WNBA trivia.
To get even more excited about the opening of the NBA Experience in Disney Springs, here are 5 reasons why now is the time to start planning your next visit:
You are the Star of the NBA Experience
When you are in NBA Experience, you are the star! Once you enter the venue, sign up for the optional registration. This will allow you to make the experience all your won by adding your own nickname and choose your favorite NBA or WNBA team. Throughout the experience, your team’s logo will be associated with you and will appear on various leader boards and signage. When you participate in the Shoot! activity, the court will magically transform to make it feel like you are in your favorite team’s arena. You also can choose basketballs that best fit your hand size and set your skill level.
Immersive Environment
When you first walk into the all-new NBA Experience, you will think you have left Disney Springs and Walt Disney World and stepped into center court of an arena complete larger-than-life Jumbotrons, pulsating music, and sparkling lights. Even if you aren’t a NBA fan, you will get swept up in the energy that the experience offers once you step inside. Be prepared to loose track of time as you get fully adsorbed into the various activities.
The NBA Experience is Authentic
Since Disney and the NBA is behind bringing the NBA Experience to life, you know it is going to be authentic. Walt Disney Imagineering worked right along side the NBA to make sure the hoops and balls are regulation size. (One exception of this is if you need them adjusted to make that slam dunk!) If you are not familiar with the NBA and basketball, it’a a great way to learn and start your journey in to NBA and WNBA fandom!
Interactive Technology
After you enter the NBA Experience, head over to the massive touchscreens in the Champions area and look up your favorite championship teams. You can take a deep dive into league history with notes about those legendary teams and view some photos and highlights.
There’s also the Repaly activity where you are challenged to make the right call in three different scenarios using your own personal interactive replay station. You will be able to view the play from different angles, zoom in and out, and move the video forward and backward while deciding the tight call. This activity feels so real, you will think you are an actual NBA or WNBA replay official!
Inspirational
Once you spend some time inside the NBA Experience, you will be inspired! Everyone is extra supportive and encouraging along the way. While doing the Dribble activity, a virtual coach will motivate you by saying things like, “Good Jo! Keep it up! Keep going!” as you work your way through a series of ball-handling drills.
As mentioned, the NBA Experience in Disney Springs opens to the public on August 12, 2019. Tickets are required and are currently on sale.
