List of Programs Available on Disney+ at Launch
The excitement of Disney’s online streaming service is reaching fever pitch here at MickeyBlog HQ and we want you to share in our enthusiasm. That’s why we thought we’d share a brief overview of all of the incredible projects set to debut on Disney+ when it launches.
Just take a look at all of the fun that awaits:
Marvel
According to a recent report by CNET there will only reportedly be a handful of Marvel films that will be available when Disney+ goes live on November 12. These include the following titles:
- “Captain Marvel”
- “Iron Man”
- “Iron Man 3”
- “Thor: The Dark World.”
- “Avengers: Endgame” will arrive later on Dec. 1.
Other than that it’s a bit of a waiting game as Disney cannot stream blockbusters like “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” “Black Panther” and “Thor: Ragnarok” until their Netflix licenses expire.
Marvel’s Hero Project
This Marvel-themed reality series takes a look at positive change several young people are making in their own communities by dedicating their lives to selfless acts. In Hero Project, Marvel celebrates them as superheroes in the real world.
Star Wars:
In a move that is sure to please Star Wars fans, Disney Plus will include all Star Wars movies from the first two trilogies. This includes:
- The Phantom Menace
- Attack of the Clones
- Revenge of the Sith
- A New Hope
- The Empire Strikes Back
- Return of the Jedi
- The Force Awakens
- Rogue One
The Mandalorian
While we’re talking Disney- it’s also important to highlight that the new series “The Mandalorian” directed by Jon Favreau and starring Pedro Pascal as the infamous gunslinger will be available at Disney+ from launch. Reports are also coming in that Favreau has already started work on a second season. We’re hoping to hear more when D23 takes place next month!
Other noteworthy Star Wars projects slated to be a part of Disney+ includes “Star Wars Rebels” and “The Clone Wars,” which cover the unseen periods before and after the rise of Palpatine’s Galactic Empire.
Pixar
Pixar will have a huge presence when Disney Plus launches with every film being included at launch. The only exception is “Toy Story 4” which is expected to come later.
Forky Asks a Question
Speaking of “Toy Story 4” Forky, Bonnie’s craft project built out of trash will also be getting his own series of 10 shorts. He has a lot of questions about how the world works so the series will have Forky explore questions like: What is love? What is time? And what is cheese?
SparkShorts
This Pixar Animation Studios short film series will provide the perfect platform for Pixar to release new short film projects, discover new storytellers and explore new technology and storytelling techniques.
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series
This 10-episode series is set at the real-life East High where the original movie was filmed and follows a group of students as they countdown to the opening night of their school’s first-ever production of High School Musical.
Encore!
This reality series produced by Kristen Bell brings together former castmates from a high school musical now all grown up-to re-creating their original performance with the help of Broadway’s best talent. Part high school reunion, part behind-the-scenes doc, the former students face old friendships and former flames, all while trying to nail choreography. Musicals include The Sound of Music, Beauty and the Beast, Annie and more.
Untitled Walt Disney Imagineering Documentary Series
This as-yet-untitled documentary series chronicles the 65-year history of Walt Disney Imagineering. It will showcase the people involved, their craft, and the business. The series includes exclusive interviews and never-before-seen footage from Disney’s parks worldwide.
The World According to Jeff Goldblum
The kind of cool, Jeff Goldblum leads each episode of this reality series by examining a deceptively familiar thing we all love – like sneakers or ice cream. Goldblum makes disparate connections between science, history and people.
Lady & The Tramp
The first film to be released exclusively on the streaming service, this reboot of the 1955 animated classic will feature Tessa Thompson as Lady — a prim and proper house dog — and Justin Theroux as Tramp — a tough but lovable stray. Over the course of a series of adventures, they grow closer and come to understand the true meaning of home. Cast also includes Kiersey Clemons (Darling), Thomas Mann (Jim Dear), Janelle Monae (voice of Peg), Yvette Nicole Brown (Aunt Sarah) and Sam Elliot (voice of Trusty).
