Spider-Man: Far From Home Outperforms at the Box Office
“Spider-Man: Far From Home “exceeded expectations at the box office this past weekend by earning a very impressive $185 million domestically in its first six days.
The latest instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which (for those of you following along) closes out Phase 3, was always expected to do well commercially. However, just how well was the question. With the recent release of the blockbuster ‘Avengers: Endgame’ it was a wait to see how much Marvel fervour still existing after such a climactic genre-defining film. However, the impressive opening week figures above attest to the fact that audiences still love Marvel and Spider-Man!
So how does it stack up against other Spidey films? “Spider-Man: Homecoming” made $154 million in its first six days after opening. This falls slightly short of the record-breaking Tuesday opening “Far From Home” had and the $185 million it brought in domestically in just it’s first 6 days. Internationally the film has currently earned somewhere around $580 million. This is great news for Disney as it means that the “Far From Home” has already exceeded the $160 million budget that was required to make the film.
One of the many reasons for “Far From Home’s” successful opening weekend could be do large and in part to its favorable reviews from critics and audiences alike. The film currently has a 91% critic approval rating and a 96% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes! Meaning that it is well-liked by all!
In case you haven’t seen the awesome latest instalment in the Spider-Man storyline you’ll definitely want to head to theaters. Here’s a look at the official trailer:
The film which stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, John Favreau, Samuel L. Jackson and Jake Gyllenhaal takes place after the events of “Avengers: Endgame” when Spider-Man must step up to take on new threats in a world that has changed forever.
