Snooki Shamed For Strollers at Disney World
Hey, I’ll admit it. I am NOT the biggest fan of the show Jersey Shore. So, when I saw Snooki’s name pop up in my Disney news feed, for something her family did at Disney, I was rolling my eyes.
BUT, for once, I am squarely in Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi’s corner.
Snooki at Magic Kingdom
Take a look at this photo:
An utterly charming picture of some beautiful kids enjoying a day at the Magic Kingdom. Heck, it makes me happy just looking at it. But apparently, some took the time to pen mom-shaming posts regarding the older children using strollers.
[S]tars such as Mariah Carey, Mila Kunis, and Maggie Gyllenhaal have all come under public fire for simple things like pictures of them breastfeeding in public or using a pacifier with an older child. And recently, it was Snooki’s turn to get caught in the line of self-righteous fire when she went to Disney World in Orlando, Florida, with her husband and kids.
The act that got everyone so riled up was in an Instagram post that showed Snooki, who’s in her third trimester expecting a baby boy, along with her 6-year-old son Lorenzo and 4-year-old daughter Giovanna. The catch? The two kids were sitting in strollers after they were worn down by all the excitement of a long day at the theme park.
While this might seem a pretty small thing, given that an average visit to Disney could have you walking 11.5 miles, as demonstrated by BuzzFeed, many people felt the need to blast Snooki’s parenting decision.
To Stroller Or Not To Stroller – Is That Even A Question?
Wait. What? People felt the need to “blast” the RIGHT decision to use strollers to wheel hot children around a massive theme park?
- First, given how many different issues could be at play, why would you even QUESTION ANYONE being in an assitive device.
- Second, whose business is it of anyone to ask or question why she is wheeling people around. She’s THE mom.
- Third, as a dad with three young kids, one of which has a penchant for twisting his ankle on a monthly basis, and two of which would fall asleep walking, I gladly take any opportunity to have a helping hand, er, wheels.
Funny. Here I am taking this personally. Defending Snooki. Ha!
And why not. Yes, Snooki was the target of the stupid mom-shaming. But, ostensibly, there were two dads in the photo, as well. THEY also made the decision to put their fragile little beings in the umbrella strollers. And for GOOD REASON. Seriously, nice job to all involved.
Finally, as far as anyone noting, well, “She put the picture up…”
Yes, she put up a picture of her family enjoying a Disney vacation, for goodness sakes. If you have a problem with someone sharing their joy, you are actually the problem (and I better not see any pictures of your family online, either).
I can’t even believe this is something that we need to write about [SMH].
Here’s the bottom line: Short of impinging on the relative joy of others, do whatever you have to do to enjoy that prescious, expensive time at Disney. Period. End of rant.
Just try not to hit me in the back of the foot with your chosen transportation device! Please. And while we’re at it, can everyone walk while keeping to the right? Pretty please.
