Aladdin Earns an Impressive $900 Million Worldwide
Disney’s ‘Aladdin’ continues to be the surprise sleeper hit of the Summer and is now reaching a very important milestone. The film has grossed a mighty impressive $900 million worldwide since it was released in late May making it one of the studios most successful live-action reboots!
Disney announced on Friday that “Aladdin” had earned $897.3 million worldwide and would join six other live-action titles that have crossed the $900 million mark. This includes ‘Beauty and the Beast’ at $1.26 billion, ‘The Jungle Book,’ ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and three of the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ films.
This means that ‘Aladdin’ is the third biggest film of the year domestically after ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and ‘Captain Marvel.’ That makes it the biggest film outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Domestically, “Aladdin” opened in first over the Memorial Day weekend with $117 million in sales and has shown impressive holding power with $313 million after seven weeks.
“Aladdin” was quick to defy Disney’s box office projections which had the fill earning a respectable $75 – $85 million in the first four days.
