Your Guide to the Droids of Galaxy’s Edge
As fans of Star Wars will tell you, everyone in space needs a trusted companion to serve as a faithful sidekick during your galactic adventures. That’s why Droids will play a central role in the fun you’ll have at Galaxy’s Edge at both Disneyland resort (NOW OPEN!) and Disney’s Hollywood Studios (OPENING AUGUST 29TH.) Here’s a look at some of the droids you’ll encounter during your visit to Batuu!
DJ – R3X
This former pilot droid crash-landed on Batuu and was reprogrammed into a DJ by Mubo at the Droid Depot. You’ll now find him entertaining guests at Oga’s Cantina under the name “DJ Rex.” Known for his chatty personality, be sure to pop by and see him during your Galaxy’s Edge visit and be sure to bring your dancing shoes!
8D- J8
As a former smelter droid, 8D-J8 was reprogrammed to do one thing: turn the meat on the spit at Galaxy’s Edge eatery Ronto Roasters. 8D- J8 will ensure that you’re meal is cooked to perfection. This droid brings the heat that will take your taste buds to a new galaxy
R5- P8
This sassy droid is Hondo’s most capable astromech and serves as an automated repair mechanic on the smuggler’s many starships. He calls Hondo out on many occasions, always keeping the pirate on his toes. You’ll find him R5-P8 at the Spaceport inside Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
Droid Depot
The ultimate destination for droid lovers of all ages, visitors to the Droid Depot can choose from either a BB-Series or an R-Series droid and customize these droids to make them truly your own. Guests can pick your perfect parts off a conveyor build and customized with personality-affiliation chips, color panels and other accessories. You can then watch as your very own creation interacts with other astromech droids as well as certain elements at Black Spire Outpost.
At the Depot you’ll also find other prebuilt droids, housewares and apparel all inspired by droids. Items include premium action figures including R2-D2, BB-8, and C-3PO, color-changing droid figure packs and playset, droid light-up R2-D2 or BB-8 headbands and Droid Depot work shirts!
