Fred Sorenson Who Played Jock Lindsey in ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ Celebrates 70th B-Day at Hangar Bar
If you’ve not been to Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar at Disney Springs then you don’t know what you’re missing. It is an absolute haven for Indiana Jones fans with memorabilia from the films peppered throughout and also serves up an incredible array of eats and treats. This autumn this much-loved Walt Disney World watering hold celebrates its 4th anniversary. But before then there’s another very important Jock Lindsey milestone that needs to be celebrated.
Fred Sorenson, the actor that portrayed Jock Lindsey in “Raiders of the Lost Ark” was recently at Disney World to celebrate his 70th birthday and decided to celebrate at the location that bears his (fictional) name! Like his character, Jock is an actual airline pilot. Though he only appeared in the film for a minute his charisma inspired Imagineers to develop a 1940’s era plane hangar based on the character. The interior is even filled with floor to ceiling props and decor creating a wonderful backstory for Jock.
During his celebratory visit, Disney had an opportunity to ask Fred a few questions about his career and his thoughts on how well the Imagineers did in bringing this fun character to life at the Hangar Bar.
When asked if he thought the Hangar Bar is a fitting tribute toJock’s character Sorenson had this to say,
“Yes! Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar represents the essence of what I’ve done and continue to do every day. I’m still an active pilot for a charter company and I also help deliver airplanes all over the world. That’s actually how I got the role of Jock Lindsey—I was helping the film crew look for a plane to use in movie and they also needed someone to help deliver and get it set up, then I was asked if I would be interested in portraying Jock Lindsey!”
Sorenson added that his favorite cocktail at Jock Lindsey’s is Reggie’s Revenge and complimented the Imagineers for nailing the theming. Sorenson said, “The fact that it looks like exactly like an old airplane hangar and it’s located right on the water where you can hear the water and boats, it’s just perfect.”
