Decorate Your Cake, and Drink Wine Too in Disney
Letting your artistic juices flow while you’re on vacation is easier now than ever before with two experiences now available at Disney Springs and Disney’s BoardWalk! If you’re a Disney animator or haven’t picked up a paint brush since elementary school, the activities are accessible to all skill levels…so it’s time to choose which is right for you! Cake decorating or wine glass decorating!
Cake Decorating
At Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs, the chefs responsible for the creation of the picture-perfect pastries are sharing some of their skills with us lowly peons. I’m going to need more than one class if I ever want a chance at joining the ranks of pastry chefs at Amotette’s, but the cake decorating seminar is the perfect place to start!
The classes are 90 minutes long and begin with a tour of the bakery’s show kitchen before it opens to the pubic! You’ll hear stories of your instructor’s cake decorating history and learn some of the tips and tricks he or she uses when decorating some of the patisserie’s most iconic desserts.
Speaking of iconic desserts, in just two years since the patisserie opened its doors, those Mickey-shaped cakes have become a recognizable staple of Walt Disney World Resort! You’ve definitely seen them on Disney’s official social media pages.
Chances are good you’ve seen plenty of friends posting photos of the cakes on social media when they visit the Resort too! In addition to early entry to the patisserie and small-group lessons with the instructor, the dessert masterpiece you’ll learn to create is, in fact…a Mickey cake!
These gorgeous dome-shaped treats will impress everyone in your travel party when you showcase your hard-earned work after the class. Oh I almost forgot, alcoholic beverages are served to everyone over 21 years of age, so come thirsty!
Wine Glass Painting
You have to be a magician to transform a plain wine glass into a hand-painted work of art. Luckily, the brand-new wine glass painting experience is hosted at AbracadaBar where magical concoctions and circus tricks are a daily occurrence!
Participants receive a wine glass, paint brush, and the colored paints they’ll need to dab, stroke, and shade their way to a perfectly executed, instructor-taught design. Interested? Me too! Here is what you need to know about the experience:
- Events take place every Thursday at 1:00pm
- The host venue is AbracadaBar (located at Disney’s Boardwalk, a 5-minute walk from Epcot’s International Gateway)
- The event costs $50/ person
- Guests can take home their wine glass upon completion of the class
