Details Revealed for the ‘Toy Story 4’ Motion Picture Soundtrack Including Return of Randy Newman
Here at MickeyBlog, we are anxiously counting down the days until Toy Story 4 hits theaters (June 20, 2019.) Today Disney also revealed the exciting news that a new soundtrack to the film will be released on Walt Disney Records to accompany the film and will be available beginning June 21st.
Toy Story fans will be delighted to know that the soundtrack reunites Pixar and the Academy Award®-winning composer and songwriter Randy Newman. Newman famously penned the much-loved Disney song “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.”
Newman has written two new songs for the soundtrack: “I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away” which is about Bonnie’s new craft project turned toy Forky and “The Ballad of the Lonesome Cowboy” which is a Western Ballad told from Woody’s perspective. The end credit version of “The Ballad of the Lonesome Cowboy” is performed by Chris Stapleton. The song is available today as a single and lyric video.

Newman had this to say of the chance to work on Toy Story again, “I have great affection for the films, and it was good to be back in that world again. Toy Story 4—like its predecessors—has great emotional depth. Important things are happening to people we love. There’s plenty of action, but there’s a lot of deeper stuff.”
In Toy Story 4 when Bonnie’s beloved new craft-project-turned-toy, Forky (voiced by Tony Hale), declares himself as “trash” and not a toy, Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks) takes it upon himself to show Forky why he should embrace being a toy. But when Bonnie takes the whole gang on her family’s road trip, Woody ends up on an unexpected adventure that includes a reunion with his long-lost friend Bo Peep (voiced by Annie Potts).
The Toy Story 4 original motion picture soundtrack is now for pre-order and “The Ballad of the Lonesome Cowboy” performed by Christ Stapleton is available via your favorite streaming or download service.
