Can I Add Extra Days to My Theme Park Tickets Once I’ve Arrived at the Parks?
Once at Walt Disney World, you may realize that you are having the time of your life and want to forgo that lounging by the pool to spend an extra day enjoying all that the theme parks have to offer. As a matter of fact, I get calls quite often from clients in the middle of the “Magic” who want to add more theme park days to their visit. With that in mind, here’s everything you need to know about adding extra theme park days onto your tickets!
Can I add extra theme park days onto my Walt Disney World visit while I’m there?
Absolutely, However, there are exceptions that it pays to be aware of! If you’ve booked a multi-day ticket at Walt Disney World, the way the system works is that the more days you spend at the theme parks the cheaper the day to day cost becomes! For instance, you can buy a one-day theme park ticket for $109 dollars. However, if you buy a 7-day one park a day ticket the cost averages out to only $61 per day.
This means that for those visiting the parks that want to tack on an extra days worth of park tickets at the end, it would better to go from a 5 day to a 6-day base ticket rather than having to purchase a 1-day ticket separately at the end. Luckily! This is something park resort guests are currently able to do by visiting the theme park ticket windows, guest services or your resort concierge.
However, there are two caveats to this that it’s important to be aware of…
1. You MUST upgrade within 14-days of your theme park ticket’s first use.
2. You MUST have theme parks tickets still left on your card or MagicBand in order to be eligible for an upgrade. For example. If you are two days into your 5-day visit to Walt Disney World you still have three days remaining and Disney will allow you to tack on extra days at the end. They will simply upgrade you to a 6-day ticket etc. This allows you to take advantage of the awesome savings I mentioned above. However, if you originally purchased a 5-day ticket and just had your ticket scanned for your last day then you have no allocation left for Disney to tack the extra days on to (your tickets are technically expired) and they do have the right to charge you full-price for additional tickets.
Can I upgrade to Park Hopper or Park Hopper Plus Tickets While I’m at Disney World?
Yes. Absolutely. Again you are able to upgrade to either of these add-on ticket options provided that you meet the conditions that I highlighted for you above. WIth both add-ons it’s especially important to tack them on as early in your stay as possible because you are charged the same rate no matter what. That means you get more bang for your Disney buck if you park hop over 6-days as opposed to only one or two!

What about Annual Passes?
As you know, Disney only sells a maximum of a 10-day theme park ticket for guests visiting Walt Disney World (unless you are travelling from the UK and then it’s 14). However, what if you want to visit the park over 12 days or 13 days? In these instances or if you’re planning on visiting the parks more than once each year, it may be more cost effective to become an Annual Passholder!
For instance, if you purchased one 10-day ticket for June of 2019 your cost would be $543.15. Let’s say you wanted to add two more days to your visit. The cost for an additional 2-day ticket would be $259.33. That brings the total cost to $842.98. The cost of an Annual Pass for the year (after tax) is $952.00. So for only $100 more you can visit the parks as many times as you like over the next year and take advantage of awesome passholder perks and discounts! It’s definitely worth considering!
