Awesome Activities at Each of Disneyland’s 8 Amazing Lands
Though all of the attention when it comes to Disneyland is currently focused on the opening of Galaxy’s Edge which is coming to Disneyland the end of May, did you know that Disneyland already has 8 amazing lands brimming with fun, awesome attractions and amazing eats! If you’ll be visiting the West Coast Mouse for Galaxy’s Edge opening or later this Spring, be sure to explore these amazing areas of the park. To help you plan out your Disney days, here’s a quick overview of what you’ll find in each area!
Main Street, U.S.A
For first time visitors to this iconic theme park, nothing quite prepares you for that feeling you get when following in Walt’s footsteps and walking down Main Street for the first time with Sleeping Beauty Castle standing proud in the distance! There’s also a lot to explore in this grand entrance to Disneyland theme park. You can enjoy a delicious breakfast with Minnie and Friends at the Plaza Inn, check out a film at Main Street Cinema, get a history lesson with Great Moments with Mr Lincoln or take a ride back in time on the Main Street Vehicles. There are also many shops adorning the avenue brimming with every Disneyland souvenir imaginable. We recommend a stop at The Mad Hatter to pick out your very own pair of Mickey Ears! Main Street also houses the central train station for the Disneyland Railroad which makes various stops throughout the park.
Adventureland
Chart a course for adventure with a stop at this beloved land! Head off to unchartered regions by taking to the waterways on the Jungle Cruise. Sing-along with some of Walt’s feathered friends at the Enchanted Tiki Room, get a birds-eye view of the wilds of Africa with a climb up to Tarzan’s Treehouse and go seeking adventure in the jungles of India with the Indiana Jones Adventure. This land also boasts amazing eats! The Tiki Juice Bar is the home of the iconic Disneyland snack- the Dole Whip. Bengal Barbecue is a quick service eatery beloved by Disney fans and the brand new Tropical Hideaway serves up eats and treats an area brimming with ambiance!
Frontierland
We promise you’ll have a rootin’ tootin good time in this area of Disneyland! Hop a raft and explore Tom Sawyer’s Island and the Pirates Lair. Climb aboard the Sailing Ship Columbia or the Mark Twain Riverboat. Thrill ride lovers will want to be sure to tackle Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and sharpshooters can show off your skills at the Frontierland Shooting Exposition. Hungry visitors will want to saddle up to the Golden Horseshoe and character lovers will want to be on the lookout for Woody and Jessie near Big Thunder Mountain Road where they’ll pose for photos and greet guests!
New Orleans Square
Hands down one of our favorite lands at Disneyland Resort, New Orleans square is filled with amazing shops, delicious eats and two awesome attractions. Hop the Disneyland Railroad into town where you can snack on beignets from the Mint Julep Bar or soak in the incredible atmosphere at the Blue Bayou Restaurant. Cafe Orleans Serves up some awesome Cajun eats and the French Market and Royal Verandah are the perfect stops to grab a quick bite. Head out to see on a pirate adventure with the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. Just down the lane, you’ll also find the Haunted Mansion casting a formidable shadow. This is also the preferred area to stake out your spot for Disneyland’s incredible nighttime show Fantasmic!
Critter Country
Head over to Critter Country where you’ll find things “mighty satisfactual” in this shady glen, nestled in a lazy corner of the backwoods. Head over to Splash Mountain where the antics of Brer Fox and Brer Bear are guaranteed to make you have a “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” day. Winnie the Pooh fans will find the gang from Hundred Acre wood on the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Pooh and friends have also been known to come out and meet guests and pose for photos in this area of the park! Here visitors can also meander down the waterways on Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes. With all this fun you’re bound to work up a mighty appetite. We recommend a stop at Hungry Bear which offers tasty quick service options and tons of shady seating. They also offer a tasty Fantasmic! Dining Package that includes VIP seating for the evening’s nighttime spectacular.
Fantasyland
This is definitely Disneyland’s most iconic land and it’s easy to understand why. The list of attractions alone is enough to ensure that you’ll be spending a few hours exploring all that this area of the park has to offer. Some of the highlights are the Matterhorn Bobsled, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Peter Pan’s Flight, Mad Tea Party, Mr. Toads Wild Ride, Snow White’s Scary Adventure and “it’s a small world.” The list goes on and on! We also recommend a stop at the Red Rose Taverne for some delicious quick service eats or Maurice’s Treats to pick up a delicious Boysen Apple Freeze.
Mickey’s Toontown
You’ll feel like you’ve stepped into one of your favorite Disney cartoons the minute you enter Mickey’s Toontown. Here you can explore the homes of much-loved Disney characters including Chip and Dale, Mickey, Minnie and Goofy. Kids will absolutely love the family-friendly Go Coaster and you can get a big dose of nostalgia aboard Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin. We also recommend a stop at Clarabelle’s for some incredible ice cream treats!
Tomorrowland
Step into the future for a handful of futuristic Disneyland attractions including Astro Orbiter, Autopia, Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters, Find Nemo Submarine Voyage, Star Tours and the iconic Space Mountain. Star Wars fans will not want to miss the Launch Bay filled with awesome memorabilia. Hungry travellers will enjoy a quick service bit at Galactic Grill or some Pixar-themed treats at Alien Pizza Planet!
