Gun Drawn In Altercation Over Disabled Parking Space At Animal Kingdom Park
According to reports by the Orange County Sheriff’s office, a man pointed a gun at a couple as a result of a dispute over a disabled parking spot in Disney’s Animal Kingdom parking lot. The elderly man, whose name was not released, was not arrested because the stories from either side were conflicting about what exactly happened. The Sheriff’s Office has forwarded the case to the state attorney’s office to decide whether to file charges.
The couple, who the gun was drawn on, was a 62-year-old woman and her 60-year-old husband. They are both Disney World annual passholders. They were visiting the park on Sunday when it happened, according to the incident report.
The woman was waiting for a car to back out so she could take the parking spot. According to the woman, the elderly man was driving a gray SUV then sped up from the opposite direction to try and cut them off to get the parking spot. As a result, almost crashing into them. Her husband made a gesture as to raise his fist as the elderly man in the gray SUV when the other driver then lifted a semi-automatic handgun above the steering wheel and pointed it at them.
The SUV driver’s passenger disputes their account. She told authorities that he waved his wallet, not a handgun. Although they did have a handgun in their car.
Both the husband and wife said they feared for their lives.
The state attorney’s office did not release any other information to the Sentinel.
