7 Best Disney Shows You Need to See on Your Vacation
Full Broadway-style productions, parades and musical acts, oh my! Disney is known as a mecca of entertainment and there is so much to just sit back and enjoy. But unless you have days upon days to visit, you’ll have to narrow down your choices because you won’t be able to watch every show they have scheduled. To help, we decided on some of the Disney shows that should absolutely make your list for a front row seat (hopefully):
Beauty and the Beast
Tale as old as time, and this 25-minute show tops our list of favorites. Why? Just take a close look at the characters who feel like they walked right out of the movie and on to the stage. At Disney World’s Hollywood Studios, you’ll enjoy singing along with some of the favorite tunes from the movie — including Be Our Guest!
You will want to see it again and again, but you can’t because you have so many others to see! (Keep in mind though that this is an outdoor performance, so you’re subject to whatever Mother Nature has in store for you.)
Fantasmic!
That’s what you’ll be yelling at the end of this 30-minute performance held at Disney’s Hollywood Studios because it is that good. Mickey is dreaming of a good versus evil and you’ll watch the glorious water and light spectacular battle it out with special appearances of characters from Beauty and the Beast; Sleeping Beauty; The Little Mermaid; Aladdin; The Lion King; Pocahontas; Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
There are more than 50 live performers, dazzling special effects and pyrotechnics. You’ll never look at water and light the same way again after you see this show! Make sure to catch it when it’s on because it’s not performed every night!
Festival of the Lion King
Hakuna Matata – what a wonderful phrase. It certainly is and the Festival of the Lion King is a wonderful half-hour show for the entire family. You will celebrate and sing with Simba to one of the most amazing animated films of all time. The show includes dancers, singers and, get this, stilt walkers!
It doesn’t end there. Watch out for the monkeys as they fly around with the greatest of ease! Birds will fly and everyone will sing and dance to the most iconic song from The Lion King, “Circle of Life.”
Dapper Dans
When you go to Disney World, you must embark on a few Magic Kingdom traditions. One of them is getting your photo taken in front of Cinderella’s castle. Another is walking down Main Street and while you’re doing that, you must stop and listen to Dapper Dans. This barbershop quartet will enlighten your day with songs and humor in the old Vaudevillian style.
A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration
Let it Go! Let it Go! You can’t stop singing any longer! Let it Go! Join Elsa and Anna and, of course, Olaf in this family friendly and fun production at Hollywood Studios from one of the most successful Disney movies ever, Frozen. For a half-hour you’ll be entertained with the re-telling of the Anna and Elsa escapades. Even if you can’t sing Let it Go one more time, you’ll find yourself joining in!
Up! A Great Bird Adventure!
This bird-tastic — it’s a word, trust us — show will put a smile on your face as you watch some of nature’s most incredible birds take flight. At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, this 25-minute show stars Russell and Dug as you learn about birds from all around the globe, including the marabou stork and its 10-foot wingspan. Up! Up and Away!
Finding Nemo: The Musical
Don’t think you’ve heard it all here before because the songwriting team behind Frozen and Coco, Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, created 14 original songs just for Finding Nemo: The Musical. So sit back and learn some new melodies. Trust us, you’ll be tapping your foot and singing along in no time!
