8 Reasons Why Caribbean Beach Is Our Go-To Moderate Resort
Due to a lengthy refurbishment, Caribbean Beach Resort has fallen off the radar of a lot of Disney guests when it comes to choosing a resort in the Moderate category. However, we at MickeyBlog are here to show you that there’s a lot of love about this property. With fantastic upgrades and changes to the resort in 2018 and with even more exciting upgrades to come we consider it one of our go-to Disney properties. Here’s a handful of reasons why!
1. New Lobby Area – The first impression you get when entering a Disney resort can really set the tone for the rest of your holiday. At the recently re-imagined Old Port Royale building we guarantee you’ll be feeling those tropical island vibes in no time! This was at the heart of the resort’s recent refurbishment and is a dazzling addition. An all-new porte-cochere welcomes guests into a colorful lobby featuring an open trussed roof, and a colonnade with floor-to-ceiling windows. It is quite dynamic! The lounge area also features plenty of comfy seating making it the perfect place to relax and unwind.
2. The Skyliner Is Coming!
Historically visitors to Disney’s Caribbean Beach resort have been limited to resort bus transportation to get to and from the theme parks but this is about to change! Slated to open in the Fall of 2019, this gondola system will revolutionize the way guests get too and from the theme parks! Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort will be getting its own Skyliner station that will take resort guests to the Epcot and Hollywood Studios. The station will feature a design reminiscent of a Caribbean Village marketplace.
3. Pirate-Themed Rooms
Ahoy landlubbers! For those looking to add a bit of Pirate pizazz to your Disney getaway, look no further than these special themed rooms brimming with buccaneer-inspired details! From beds shaped like pirate ships to a floor that looks like a nautical map, there is so much to love about these special guest rooms found only at Caribbean Beach Resort. These are bookable as their own room category and come it at slightly more expensive than standard rooms! Surprise your little swashbuckler during your next Disney visit with a Pirate Room.
4. Pirate Cruises
Continuing with the Pirate-theme, your little scallywags have the opportunity to chart a course for adventure with one of two pirate cruises currently on offer at Caribbean Beach Resort. The first is the Unsolved Mysteries of Barefoot Bay. This special sailing takes place every Thursday from 7PM – 8:30PM for buccaneers between the ages of 10 – 16 (no parents allowed!) Guests are invited aboard for an evening adventure cruise to investigate the mysteries of pirates of the past. The second cruise is for smaller swashbucklers. The Islands of the Caribbean Pirate Cruise is perfect for kids between 4 – 12 and sails the ports of the Caribbean just as Captain Calico Jack did in search of treasure and adventure. This offering is available on Sundays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9:30 am – 11:30 am. An additional fee is required for both of these activities. Reservations can be made at 407.WDW.PLAY, by contacting or travel agent or visiting the concierge desk when you arrive.
5. Great Grub
The recently re-imagined Old Port Royale is also home to three exciting new dining options! Sebastian’s Bistro is a Caribbean-inspired table service restaurant specializing in warm island hospitality and gorgeous waterfront views. Open for dinner, guests will love the Latin and Caribbean Flavors with highlights including skirt steak “chimichurri,” sauteed shrmp and tamales and a crispy avocado and bacon burger! The Centertown Market is your go-to option for those looking for a quick bite. This food court looks like an indoor Caribbean street market offering a diverse array of family-friend treats. Highlights include made-to-order bowls with Latin and Caribbean-inspired flavors. It wouldn’t be a Caribbean getaway without some island-inspired cocktails. You’ll find many tropical libations at Banana Cabana. Be sure to ask for a Tropical Paradise!
6. Fuentes del Morro Pool
The pirate theme continues at this zero-entry paradise that looks like a colonial Spanish fortress. Kids will love zipping by on one of 2 waterslides included one that measures 102 feel long before spraying guests with the man-of-war cannons. There’s also a shipwreck play area complete with mini slides and a crow’s nest for tinier travellers. Adults will love the 12-person spa pool which is perfect for relaxing after a long day on the high seas.
7. Tropical Island Ambiance
After a hectic day at the theme parks, there’s nothing more relaxing than returning to Caribbean Beach and soaking in the cool island vibes. From al fresco dining to finding a quiet hammock to take a nap, you’ll definitely feel like you’ve escaped to the islands. Explore all this property has to offer with a Surrey bike rental, curl up on a beach blanket for movies under-the-stars or bring your marshmallows for the nightly campfires!
8. Good Value Within the Moderate Category
With rooms starting at $179.00 a night, guests get to enjoy all of the fantastic perks listed above as well as a great value for money. Accommodation at Caribbean Beach consistently comes up as the most affordable option within the Moderate Category. Unlike the Port Orleans Resorts, it doesn’t tend to be exempt from room and other discount offers meaning that you may be able to cash in on even greater savings! With a variety of booking options from the most affordable Standard Room options to Preferred Rooms which are located closest to central amenities, you’re bound to find accommodation that perfectly suits your needs and your budget.
