Could ‘Star Wars: Episode 9’ Teaser Trailer Be Released Wednesday?
There are rumors circulating the interwebs that the first teaser trailer for ‘Star Wars: Episode 9’ could drop Wednesday, December 19th. And express.com thinks they know why. Keep reading to find out!
Next year, we will finally see the conclusion of the Skywalker saga. Although there is no confirmation, there have been reports that the first teaser trailer has been completed. There are five powerful reasons why this coming Wednesday could reveal the first official look at Luke, Leia, Kylo Ren, Rey and the return of Billy Dee Williams as Lando.
Release Date
The most important factor this time is the release date of Star Wars 9 in cinemas. It will open in the US on December 20 with previews on December 19. The UK is expected to follow a similar pattern.
All the major film studios like to follow patterns with their marketing strategies. Exactly one year before the big screen release date has a nice ring to it. Unsubstantiated reports even claim cinemas have already received the secretly coded trailer.
Comic Book Series
December 19 this year also sees the release of the final issue of the hugely popular Star Wars: Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith comic book series. Releasing the trailer the same day would boost all things Star Wars in one simple step.
Mary Poppins Returns
Disney will not release anything from next weekend when Mary Poppins Returns launches in cinemas worldwide. The studio will not want to split focus between two such major projects.
Spider-Man Far From Home
There is also still the matter of the pending Spider-Man Far From Home first trailer. This has also been reported to be ready for release. It has already been shown to a closed audience of fans at the CCXP Comic Con in Sao Paulo, Brazil, last week. Many commentators had expected it to be released online and in cinemas with this weekend’s Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.
It is most likely that either the Spider-Man or Star Wars trailer will be released this week and the other sometime later in the month after Mary Poppin’s launch.
Christmas Day?
Another strong rumor pins the Episode 9 trailer date on Christmas Day itself. This followed an onlooker overhearing a new Christmas Day advert being shot at Disney World and teh presenter included a link to camera which contained a line about it being time to look at something exciting in a galaxy far, far away.
Obviously, this could refer to one of the Star Wars features at the Disney park. It also seems unlikely that the family-friendly Disney corporation would release a trailer on Christmas Day which will split families as fans rushed to the internet to watch and react.
