Help Disney Name the New Baby Giraffe at Animal Kingdom Theme Park
There’s a new baby announcement at Disney’s Animal Kingdom as a female Masai giraffe calf was born last month! To celebrate this special occasion Disney would like your help in picking out a name for the newest addition to the Animal Kingdom family.
The calf’s parents, Kenya and George were paired together through the Species Survival Plan overseen by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The plan ensures the responsible breeding of species that are in threat of becoming endangered.
Check out this video to find out how you can help this newborn find its name!
Disney has narrowed the choices down to four names with important meanings in the Swahili language:
- Dafina – which means treasure
- Amira- which means princess
- Milima- which means mountain
- Naima- which means graceful
Right now the baby giraffe is spending time bonding with her family but will be introduced to Animal Kingdom’s Kilimanjaro Safari attraction over the next few months.
