Disney at Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
It all started with a mouse. It’s true of the Walt Disney Company, and it’s true of Disney’s lasting presence in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! The televised spectacle is the nation’s annual welcome of the holiday season, and this years’ parade will feature more Disney presence than ever before!
Since 1934, just 10 years after the first Macy’s parade stepped off, a Mickey Mouse balloon marked Disney’s debut presence in the spectacle. The massive helium-filled rendition of Mickey floated his way down Central Park West before gliding through Herald Square and passing in front of the flagship Macy’s. The cheers and praise Mickey drew from spectators guaranteed Mickey a return invite…and the rest is history!
This year, more Disney balloons and floats will be in the parade than ever before! Whether you’re planning to be a New Yorker for the day and line the route, or line up on your family sofa, here are all of the Disney characters that have been featured in the parade through the years- keep an eye out for your favorites this year!
Mickey Mouse
Donald Duck
Goofy
Chicken Little
Olaf
Kermit the Frog
Buzz Lightyear
Spider Man
