PinQuest at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!
PinQuesters, this is the long-awaited day you’ve craved for nearly 2 years. We haven’t seen hide nor hair of PinQuest since 2016. The now 2-year-old incarnation of PinQuest led guests on an exciting collector’s journey through Magic Kingdom, and both Disney pin collectors and fans of Magic Kingdom games have been awaiting its return ever since. When an attraction, event, or even a simple activity like PinQuest disappears for 2 years, the chances of it ever making a return are, to put it bluntly, slim.
Not only do we have the exciting news that PinQuest is back, but this scavenger hunt-style game experience is inviting new and old fans to take on a new set of challenges in a whole new park: Disney’s Animal Kingdom! The game is a fun way for both families and solo explorers to discover the far reaches of the Animal Kingdom while brainstorming, traveling, and solving the games’ clues! If you’re planning to visit Walt Disney World in the coming months, don’t miss your chance to play, because while PinQuest is definitely back in action, its return is strictly limited! Here’s how to play:
Pick Up Your Adventure Kit
PinQuest is a for-purchase game that leads players through the Animal Kingdom through a series of clues. When solved, each clue takes players to a designated location where a special pin is waiting them as their reward! The purpose of the game is to collect every pin, and add them to the included lanyard. To purchase your Adventure Kit, simply drop by the Outpost Shop and grab your Kit that includes a lanyard, park map, PinQuest map, a decoder medal, pouch for storage, and a card containing your first clue!
Solve the Clues
With your Adventure Kit in hand, you’re ready to start your wild journey through Disney’s Animal Kingdom! The clue card in your Adventure Kit will lead you to your first pin redemption location and, when you decode the location you’re headed for, will have your first pin waiting for you!
Pay as You Go
It’s my prediction that there will be one pretty big deterrent for guests hoping to experience PinQuest; cost. For starters, the Adventure Kit must be purchased in order to begin the game at all…but that charge is the first of many. Once each clue is solved, the price tag for the reward pin is currently set at $9.99/ pin. When you complete the scavenger hunt, you will have the opportunity to purchase a completion pin, which is set at $4.99.
If you’re a pin collector, this is a steal. If you’re looking for a leisurely scavenger hunt game to play while visiting Animal Kingdom, this probably isn’t the option for you (you should check out Wilderness Explorers!). When all is said and done, the game costs around $80, which, if you are an avid pin collector, is a fantastic deal! You not only get to keep these limited and exclusive pins that you’ve worked so hard to track down, but also the clue cards, decoder medal, map, lanyard to display the pins on, and a handy pouch to store it all in!
In total, there are seven limited-time exclusive pins to collect. With the 2018 rendition of the game set inside Animal Kingdom, the characters featured on the round, medallion-shaped pins fit right in with the lands of the Park! You’ll collect pins featuring Simba from The Lion King, Baloo from The Jungle Book, Russell from Up!, a banshee from Pandora, the love-able Pluto (my favorite!), and the elusive Yeti from Expedition Everest!
PinQuest is the newest addition to scavenger hunt-style games that have gained traction in recent years. Joining popular experiences like Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, Treasures of the Seven Seas, Wilderness Explorers, and Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure, the scavenger hunt trend is showing no signs of slowing down. Is Animal Kingdom’s PinQuest something you and your family will experience on your next vacation? Do you think the price is fair for 7 limited-time pins? Leave me a comment and let me know!
