Awesome Ways to Have a Disney Halloween at Home
Mickey Mouse has more friends than anyone I know, and although he loves to hang out with as many as possible each day in the Parks, he can’t see ALL of his friends every single day. Or every season. He only has a very limited number of invitations to extend for his Not-So-Scary-Halloween Party, and if yours isn’t one of the names on this years’ guest lists, you’re not alone. You can still have a Disney Halloween thought!
Because you won’t be celebrating Halloween in the Parks with your family this year, Halloween just won’t be as magical for you and your family. Wait…you know I’m joking right? The holidays- no matter which we’re discussing- can be equally as fantastic and filled with Disney magic from home! With recipes for Disney treats and instructions for family-friendly hands-on decorating activities, we’ve got you and your family covered to have the best, most spook-tacular Halloween, with a little bit of pixie dust to sprinkle on top!
Crafts
No house, apartment, or condo can be considered ‘ready’ for a holiday without being properly decorated. Especially if that place of residence is gearing up to welcome hungry trick-or-treaters in just a few weeks’ time! You and your family can welcome a bit of Disney magic into your home with these fun and innovative Halloween-inspired crafts. Check them out!
Pumpkin Carving
Scooping the seeds from a freshly-carved pumpkin is a fall staple that should never be missed. I grew up plucking a plump, perfect pumpkin straight from the vine before egging my parents on to drive above the speed limit to get me home to carve it. Now I live in a very crowded city and I couldn’t tell you where the nearest pumpkin farm is, but I have just as much fun picking my pumpkin from the cardboard boxes on the streets, especially when I have all of these Disney-inspired carvings to look forward to!
I’m big into pumpkin carving, but there are some hands that are just too young to hold a sharp carving knife…but they shouldn’t’ miss out on any of the fun! A good set of paints and a big brush will get the job done when creating any one of these Disney-inspired pumpkin paintings. Check them out!
Front porch Décor
A welcoming front entrance is a must if you’re planning to welcome trick-or-treaters. For a perfect day-of craft, print this adorable Mickey paper jack-o-lantern craft! It’s perfect to decorate your porch, the center of your candy table, and it’s a great alternative for carving if your little ones are too small hold a carving knife! Treats
Poison Apple Pops
I’ve made these in the past, and they’ve gained such popularity among the ranks of Disney DIY-ers that they’ve scored themselves a feature on the Disney Family website just in time for Halloween 2018! They’re SUPER simple and require just a few easy steps:
Mickey cutout cookies
Confession: these cookies may fit in with the Halloween color scheme, but I make them year-round! This past year I needed a sweet something for Valentine’s Day, and a switch from my favorite chocolate cookie recipe to my favorite vanilla cookie recipe (coupled with some pink frosting filling) made the treats perfect for V-Day! These are very easy: just whip up a batch of your favorite chocolate (or vanilla!) cookies but, before you bake them, stamp out the centers with a Mickey-shaped cookie cutter- or cut by hand- and fill with Halloween-colored frostings!
Jar of Souls
The Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney princess film. The Little Mermaid is very far from falling under the “Halloween” umbrella of movie genres. I want to incorporate my favorite Disney film into my life as often as I can, and I have finally found a way to celebrate it at Halloween time!
Ursula would be proud to know that her poor unfortunate souls are all bottled up for safe keeping, and these delicious and adorable mason jar treats ensure that those poor souls take a one way trip into your belly this Halloween!
