National Cheeseburger Day at Disney World Resort 9/18
“I like mine with lettuce and tomato, Heinz 57 and French fried potatoes!” -Jimmy Buffett
We’d be kidding ourselves if we didn’t admit that Mr. Buffett knew who he was pandering to. Well, every human being on the planet with a sense of taste when he penned Cheeseburger in Paradise. If eating that delicious meal -that he so expertly describes in his lyrics- every week wouldn’t add inches to my waistline, I’d be face-deep in the drippiest, greasiest, most gut-busting burgers every night of the week!
I suppose the fact that we can’t eat half pound burgers on the daily are what make the darn things so dreamy. Since you clicked on this link, I know I’m speaking to a crowd who understands my struggle!
Vacations are a very valid reason to splurge on your favorite food, drink, and dessert items. A Walt Disney World vacation, chock loaded with dozens of incredible restaurants, is an even better reason! If your Walt Disney World vacation coincides with a September 18th stay this year, you have not one, not two, but three reasons to forget about the calories and indulge in a great cheeseburger, because September 18th is National Cheeseburger Day!
Before you give yourself a headache searching through all of the restaurant menus that serve up burgers, take a look at the below list of my favorite places to order a cheeseburger!
D Luxe Burger (Disney Springs)
D luxe Burger has quickly become a hugely popular spot for a great, table-service quality burger without the wait…or the tipping! D Luxe is my go-to burger joint when I’m visiting Disney Springs because not only are they very, very tasty, but I can mobile order before I arrive and skip the line!
The burgers come with an unlimited amount of any and all of their special sauces and are cooked to medium unless otherwise specified. The hand-cut fries pair perfectly with the sauces too…I’ve never seen a sign that says the sauces are only for the burgers…
Beaches and Cream (Yacht and Beach Club Resort)
Picture this: You’re on the Jersey Shore in 1974. Women are wearing scandalous new swimwear and are choosing sun-kissed skin over umbrellas. After a long day at the beach, you pop into your favorite Boardwalk diner that is accented with old time-y décor and succeeds in bringing back floods of childhood memories. Those same nostalgic feelings will be immediately re-created when you step into Beaches and Cream, and a classic, boardwalk-style cheeseburger is the only way to go!
Disney’s Boardwalk Burger Cart
There is a very well-kept secret over at the Boardwalk that only seasoned guests of the Resort have discovered. It’s an off-the-wall choice, I know, but take a stroll over to the Boardwalk and I think you’ll be in agreement! Located across from Trattoria Al Forno sits a burger cart frying up burgers well into the night on a flat top griddle.
Once, my entire family got a cheeseburger and order of fries and ate them on the Boardwalk’s porch, overlooking the lake. I’m not sure which stuck with me longer, the memory of the amazing sunset or the memories of that last bite of juicy burger!
T-Rex (Disney Springs)
Based on food alone, I do not recommend T-Rex. However, hear me out. Sometimes, a little tyke will be so drawn into the prehistoric themeing that a reservation at the restaurant becomes a ‘must’ for your family’s vacation.
Although the food isn’t the best on property, the burgers absolutely hold their own. If you like your meat cooked to a specific temperature like I do, this place surprisingly nailed my entire tables’ worth of burgers the last time I visited. Plus, any place that serves waffle fries can’t be all that bad…
Kona Café (Polynesian Village Resort)
A burger is one of the last things I would think to order at Kona (I always go for the sushi), so when a member of my family ordered the Island Burger from the menu, I was stealthy enough to successfully sneak a bite when he took a bathroom break- for research purposes, of course.
As you can tell, one bite is all it took to earn this list! Havarti is the BEST cheese to use on a burger, and its soft texture and buttery flavor are only augmented by a runny poached egg. The unexpected but delicious pile of melt-in-your-mouth pork tied the whole thing together!
The BOATHOUSE (Disney Springs)
The BOATHOUSE is good for dockside drinks and super fresh seafood, and the freshest catch is what I always go for when I dine here. Surprisingly, on a recent trip, a member of my party with a particular distaste (read: hatred) for seafood ordered a burger and requested that I please “order something NOT smelling like fish” so she could “dine in peace”. I love my family too much to ignore a request like that, so I obliged and ordered a burger.
And I am now officially thanking her. The burger was cooked just as I’d ordered it and the toppings were fresh and the perfect compliment.
These burger-bearing restaurants only scratch the surface of spots that you can order a drippy cheeseburger on National Cheeseburger Day, and we want to know if we mentioned your favorite! Did we entice you to try a new burger, or will you stick to your favorite? Let us know in the comments section, and Happy National Cheeseburger Day…enjoy it in paradise!
