Check Out the 2018 Haunted Mansion Holiday Gingerbread House
Halloween has officially kicked off at Disneyland Resort! One of the highlights for fans each year is, of course, hopping on your doom buggy and checking out the “Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas” overlay at the Haunted Mansion turning it into Haunted Mansion Holiday. The ride is chock-a-block with wonderful details inspired by Jack Skellington, Sally, Oogie Boogie and other “Nightmare Before Christmas” characters. The attention to detail you’ll find on this seasonal attraction is absolutely spooktacular right down to the towering creepy gingerbread house gracing the table in the ballroom scene.
Each year, Disneyland’s amazing culinary team creates a new version of the gingerbread house. Since this year marks the 25th Anniversary of “Nightmare Before Christmas” they have pulled out all of the stops! Here’s a first look at how the stunning culinary creation came together this year!
For this year’s creation, Disney’s culinary team went with a monster movie vibe complete with a 5-foot spider with glowing eyes and moving legs and mandibles. According to Tim Wollweber, associate art director for Disney Parks, “This muliticolor spider is suspended above the Haunted Mansion’s Grand Hall table attempting to pry the edible mansion from its foundation revealing candy cane rebar and sparkling lights.” The instalment also features gingerbread zombies.
To bring this massive centrepiece to life, Disney’s Central Bakery started baking the gingerbread over a month ago. 12 pastry chefs took on the task of bringing this dazzling creation to together and in the process used 90 lbs of gingerbread, 30 lbs of confectioner’s sugar, 10 lbs of white chocolate and 45 lbs of fondant.
Here’s a detailed look at the finished product.
The Gingerbread House at Haunted Mansion Holiday will be on display until January 2019! The best way to see this magnificent creation is by planning an Autumn Disneyland getaway so that you can enjoy this and all of the other incredible seasonal touches coming to the parks this Halloween and Christmas!
